It's actually a combination, I have a dead PC, software issue, AND a dead external, which is dead.
If you downloaded them once, you can download them again or buy on dvd/ stream. As it's old, you need to do a lot more research.

If the Hd won't power on, it's dead, otherwise data is recoverable by using software apps.
Even if it won't power on, the data is still on the disks... that's when you consider translating circuits, or paying $1000 for a company to do it for you.

If you really need to get this data back, you'll make the appropriate effort...

That's what I feel like, if it's that important, I'll do the appropriate research. The data recovery is 600$ for the first step, and if it doesn't work, it's free. If it works, then it's 600$. However, if it's a mechanical failure, then the HD has to go into the clean room, at which point it's going to be 1300$.

I did go look up the dramas on DVD, and realized it would probably cost me about 600$ to buy all of them, then I'd have to go about ripping them and finding soft subs. I'm sure you know, the problem with finding anything old on the internet is relatively difficult. I managed to get about one series out of 12. For that, I'm already mildly grateful. Either way, I find myself getting less attached to them over time, in the end I have more important things to worry about. However, I will be getting my old PC fixed, there is stuff on there that I do need.

About your pc being fixed is another thing I don't understand.

All your "stuff" is on the hard drives. You can get a HD --> usb adapter for $5, so just rip out the old hd and plug it into the usb of your new one and transfer across the stuff.

Unless you're telling me fixing your old pc is going to work out better than just getting a new one...

The thing about the old videos and old pcs is er the thing I was moaning about somewhere else - new technology has a way of destroying old media/ rendering it useless / forcing you to buy higher resolution/new shit. Imagine you get a new pc, how would your old dramas look on the bigger screen? Pixelated maybe?

The love you have for the series may be just nostalgia for simpler times. It may be the loss that hurts you more than the loss of the series. Would you even really watch them again? Or do you just want to have them on your shelf? In that case, you may well want to just buy the dvds, save the subs and don't even rip them.

Or.... screw losing all that money and just tough it out and grind your teeth like everyone else, and rent prostitutes.

Edit: And save up for a holiday to Japan!!!!

I'm really anal about the configuration of my PCs, takes me forever to do it. I have two PCs, the one I'm now is a billion times better than the one that broke, yet I never bothered to use this one until now.

I miss having my book marks, having everything exactly where I want it, knowing where everything is. My PC isn't my life, but it organizes it, and it was done to a T. This kind of shit leaves me in upheaval.

I do actually watch the series over and over again, I'm the type of person who only collects stuff I reuse. I've probably watched all the movies in my DVD collection at least 5 times. Anything that's one use, usually gets rented or sold.

And really, can the porn euphemisms. That kind of shit you can just stream if you want.

Ok... it's do able (not talking about the euphemisms). Don't forget to check all the old methods of sharing... you might even get them from a premium service. Good luck!

Nah, I'll just find new things to replace it. On the other hand, fixing my old computer probably won't even cost me more than 50 dollars, so I'm not particularly worried. Windows just got corrupted when I fixed a virus.

Retyped the script of a Seinen KOF Doujinshi called "Be Through" (The story title is called "Yata's Mirror"). Since this came out, I'm a little intrigued of Athena probably being a Yata Clan descendant. I know, I know, this doujinshi came out before Chizuru Kagura who is SNK's actual Yata Clan descendant in KOF '96.

:/ wut? I was a part of the Yata Clan?

Now in it's translation process.

Should I post the Japanese script of the Doujinshi's story in this site?

Went on a binge, took cigars with me. Bad idea, I didn't even drink that much but I felt like throwing up when I got home. When I went to throw up, nothing came out, stupid cigars.

Edit: Also learned that super young girls are not for me.

I just came back from the first therapy session of my friend, who has been depressed and suicidal for two years. After about half an hour me and his father were asked to leave and he is still inside alone. He did not say anything i didn't already know but it was still so painful and intense that i walked out feeling like i just got my ass kicked, physically as wel as mentally. I believe this was an important day and he's going to start the road to recovery from now on.

Went for a holiday in Thailand last weekend with my girlfriend. Had fun shopping, sightseeing, and sampling the local dishes. We even met up with Persona. :> Unfortunately since he said he didn't play KOF anymore, I couldn't challenge him, so we played SFIV instead. He kicked my butt bad with his Chun Li. :P

Last 4 years condensed: Worked new jobs, traveled a lot, moved all over the US West coast, and collected various interesting nostalgic junk.

Currently on a laserdisc kick. *hoards SNK superplay discs*

instant ban for P for betraying KOF
