All your "stuff" is on the hard drives. You can get a HD --> usb adapter for $5, so just rip out the old hd and plug it into the usb of your new one and transfer across the stuff.
Unless you're telling me fixing your old pc is going to work out better than just getting a new one...
The thing about the old videos and old pcs is er the thing I was moaning about somewhere else - new technology has a way of destroying old media/ rendering it useless / forcing you to buy higher resolution/new shit. Imagine you get a new pc, how would your old dramas look on the bigger screen? Pixelated maybe?
The love you have for the series may be just nostalgia for simpler times. It may be the loss that hurts you more than the loss of the series. Would you even really watch them again? Or do you just want to have them on your shelf? In that case, you may well want to just buy the dvds, save the subs and don't even rip them.
Or.... screw losing all that money and just tough it out and grind your teeth like everyone else, and rent prostitutes.
Edit: And save up for a holiday to Japan!!!!
I'm really anal about the configuration of my PCs, takes me forever to do it. I have two PCs, the one I'm now is a billion times better than the one that broke, yet I never bothered to use this one until now.
I miss having my book marks, having everything exactly where I want it, knowing where everything is. My PC isn't my life, but it organizes it, and it was done to a T. This kind of shit leaves me in upheaval.
I do actually watch the series over and over again, I'm the type of person who only collects stuff I reuse. I've probably watched all the movies in my DVD collection at least 5 times. Anything that's one use, usually gets rented or sold.
And really, can the porn euphemisms. That kind of shit you can just stream if you want.
