Seen some shorts on a TV Show of players who lost weight by using DDR. I think it wouldn't be that of a help if it isn't played many times. But it's quite an alternative if you don't want sports i say.

any kind of regular workout would do the same... running, dancing, mostly any sport. But yeah, its a great incentive for kids to have fun and workout at the same time...

I noticed my legspeed raise after a week of hardcore playing
muscles obviously growing
as you can do the higher level tracks
paranoia +1

EDIT: I got bored after two weeks and sat on my arse and regained any weight playing Suikoden WHICH IS NOT BORING

or.. those schools cud just hire a dance teacher. but i guess arrows and combos make everything more fun.

actually i didnt lose much weight playing ddr everyday, only when i started running everyday did i really get a good cardio workout. coz in ddr, yeh its more fun, but i play maniac and it feels like if anything my shins get ginormous lactic acid buildup before anything really happens. and if ur really obese and have no rhythm to start with and ur stomping away on those ddr pads? man, maintenance alone wud be a super cost.

but still, ddr is fun. they dont have it anymore in the hk arcades [out of style for some messed up reason] go konami!

final ramble: what they shud do is make mmorpg treadmill controllers, so in order to run around u have to run on this little treadmill too. and if u use the treadmill u level faster.. or like how fast u run in the game depends on how fast u really run.

That "Little fat fucker" as you call him must not cut back on the snacking, hence he's still a "fat fucker".

He's little and fat, but he still gets laid?

not bad.

DDR is probably appealing for schoolkids because of the flashing lights and pretty colours. the game's really exhausting too. if you hold the bars on the back of the machine like i do, your arms sting like hell after 2 or 3 songs.

Umm. No.

How does that make your arms hurt? I don't go anywhere near the bars.

yeh, but thats the thing though, its only going to be out in the US. hk is totally out of it. i'd really like for them to bring any ddr back, but i guess they're in it for profit and ddr cost a lot to maintain [noobs who stomp away] and dancing games are for the kiddies, not the adults who drink cough syrup and play in arcades where they can sit and smoke at the same time. and the kiddie arcade's most popular game is that namco drum game. when i mean kiddie i mean people who dont want to get into any sort of trouble.

hopefully supernova will get a tryout in hk, maybe we can bring the dancing craze back here.

They are selling some I-Gallop machine over here.

The ads feature girls with rather skimpy outfits riding a machine.

Yes, it looks and sounds more like a sex toy.

I disagree. Moving your NeoGeo arcade machine into your basement is the best way to tackle obesity.

As weird as it sounds, yes, dancing simulation games help to lose weight.

*speaks in testimony as PIU player*

Sweat your ass off trying freestyle (real choreography style, specially adding some breakstyle-like moves) or stepping to the hardest track a-la Paranoia, Dignity or any other arrow storm piece, and you'll lose loads of calories.
Not true for everyone. I know this annoying little fat fuck who plays DDR nonstop and is STILL a little fat fuck. Little fat fucker.
That also has to do with dietary habits and other stuff to keep you fatass. Dance ur ass off and dirnk soda to refresh yourself and get a whole pizza afterwards and you'll still a fat fuck :P

And yes: PIU > DDR :3
