AUSTRALIA ARE INTO THE WORLD CUP!!!!!!!!!!!
I WIN $700 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
*Kewell was absolutely magnificent. He made an excellent dummy in the box which lead to Bresciano's goal.
*The referee was rubbish. Anyone who watched the game would agree that many of the Uruguay players got away with a lot more than they should have.
*Both Mark Schwarzer and Fabian Carini were rock solid throughout the game. It's a shame for Carini that Uruguay lost on penalties, he deserves better.
*Uruguay have a lot to look forward to in the future. Estoyanoff was fabulous again, and his penalty was perfect.
*Guus Hiddink is a miracle worker. He only had 3 months to turn around Australia after losing every Confed Cup game to beating the 14th rank nation in the world. What a legend.
*Mark Schwarzer must be man of the match, altho there were many players who deserve to claim that title too.
*The Uruguayan strikers again missed many excellent chances to kill the game, particularly Recoba's long range effort in the first half.
*Australia dominated the second half and extra time, althought Uruguay looked the better side for the first 20 mins of the first half.

stupid thing is that we had to win by 2 over uraguay......if not we would have won before the penalty shootout anyway
but i know what you mean about the ref.....like, he was utterly blind to whatever uraguay did, but when an australian elbowed them in the face, oh, no.....
but yeah, first time in, i think 31 years.......finally

I can't wait either. We got a low ranking tho, but if we get one of the big European countries, I hope it's Italy. They're quite inconsistent.denieru wrote:Groups are detenrmined on december 9th if im not mistaken... cant wait!

The draw will take place on December 9th.denieru wrote:I hear Mexico has a chance of being drafted as a group leader... this I guess is related to its position on the FIFA list. Anyone has any idea how it works? getting to be group leader that is.
The top 8 ranked teams are placed in the same pot, so they won't draw each other, so it's not possible to have a group with Brazil and France, for example. I would assume that the next 8 are in another pot, and so on. I'm not sure is region factors in the draws tho.
But still, it's possible to have a group consisting of Mexico, Portugal, South Korea, and Australia. Now that's a group of death.

Good news, denieru, Mexico have been seeded!
The 8 seeds are:
Germany, Brazil, England, Spain, Mexico, France, Argentina and Italy.
wtf @ Spain. Surely Netherlands are better than them.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story ... 89&cc=3436
The second pot will contain Australia, the five African finalists: Ghana, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Angola and Togo, plus the two lower ranked South American teams Ecuador and Paraguay.
The third pot will comprise eight European teams: Croatia, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine.
The fourth pot will comprise four Asian teams: Iran, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and the three remaining from CONCACAF Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States.
A special pot will contain only Serbia & Montenegro, the lowest ranked European team, who will be placed in a group including either Brazil, Argentina or Mexico.
FIFA created the special pot so they could avoid having any groups with more than two European teams.
The draw is this Friday in Germany.

Well, World Cup fever comes to me once every four years like it should. I don't care about qualifications cuz my country's team will never make it. So there.
Club football seems more of my thing, but then Arsenal's performance the past few weeks are pretty bad, so nothing to shout about there.
Chelsea being too good = my bad hair days increase in numbers.
Man U out of Europe. LAWL.
