Oh thanks so much for the answer, I am gonna try it that fashion then, I realized it could be like that, but it seems that I am missing the forward input correctly while doing forward-up

Thanks again, and best of luck for you sir.

I created another guide to Mai Shiranui a while ago due to her being one of my main characters. Please feel free to provide more insight on her game play or tricks. This is a basic summary of her strengths and weaknesses, as well as a few videos to help players win.

I edited Mai's Dream Cancel Wiki page to showcase more information - I updated her pros and cons to highlight Mai's accessibility. I also added the tutorial on using Mai's ground Musasabi no Mai. A few other DC members, including myself continue to update information. Everyone here will eventually get to match ups for Mai and many other characters.

Here is a video a of sample HD combo without the use of any stocks. This combo will do 597 damage total. If you resort to using a EX Chou Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi (EX DM) after the move, Mai gets off with 680 damage instead.

I made quite a few updates on dream cancel and SRK sense the last I posted here.
Let me go ahead and say this: Mai's Musasabi no Mai is very good on wake if you wish to avoid d.B or other frame traps after a knockdown.
Take a look at both of these guides when ya'll get a chance

Got some brand new technology on Mai!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iGwtWrbbNw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mai can do extremely stupid mix ups from up close. She can cancel her d.A and d.C into special moves (note; she can also whiff cancel her d.D). She can cancel all of those into her flashkick .P Musasabi no Mai. When you are mixing up from up close, Mai can go for d.B, d.A or her d.C into flashkick .P (in the same direction as the opponent) and then cancel that quickly into her j.d.B (Ukihane) which is apparently somewhat safe on guard.
THIS WILL COUNT AS A NATURAL COMBO. Not only will it count as a natural combo but it WILL count as an overhead as well and a natural block string. It is also extremely hard to react to.
Also, when Mai's Ukihane connects with the opponent (even if they guard), Mai cancel it into her air QCB .A or .C or EX QCB .P. This will not be a natural block string but it is still an extremely nasty mix up. Keep in mind that Mai can cancel her Ukihane into her DM/EX DM as well! Nearly guaranteed to work on opponents who like to press to many buttons. Air EX QCB .P would be Mai's safest options, while things like EX DM offers invincibility start up and better priority.

Nice work. I havent seen that in vs play as of yet, but would be semi hard to apply if you are having trouble getting in close

I am positive that last video that deals with Mai's overhead combo solidifies her overall mix up game. Very nice.

I got two combos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ_8T4Pxej0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The first HD combo in that video is worth 656 damage meter-less. The secondary HD combo in the video is worth 802 damage for 2 bars.
Apparently, lot of Mai's big time 2 bar combos will cause around 800+ damage.

Also, here is an extra combo that might worth looking at...
j.C, s.C [HD activate] s.C, hcf+D [HDC] air qcb+C, hcf+D (FIRST HIT) [HDC] qcf+A, qcb+C, qcb+C, qcb+C [HDC] qcf+A, qcb+C, qcb+C > Neo Max = 811 damage

That's quite alright!

Now... I've been wondering about 1 frame links for a while now. Several characters have some - like Iori (st.A > close st.C) or Duo Lon (st.B > close st.C).
Mai herself has quite a few of them which are cr.A > cr.C... and a particular one where she can link Kachosen into st.A or cr.C.
Mai's one frame links might actually be useful (but not necessary) for netting extra big time damage:

Just had a long talk with Desmond Delaghetto from Dream Cancel - both us did a podcast on Mai. We shared a lot of good insight on Mai's overall game play and potential. The podcast in itself should be put on showcase much later on.
