Re: The King of Fighters XIII/KOF-i News Thread
Yeah.
Differences with Ash:
- His jump D is different - it's a slicing kick instead of a downward kick. Also his far D moves him forward unlike Ash'.
- Some of his other pokes look similar but have different properties.
- He can do Ash' Floreal (f+B/D) in mid-air, and it can be cancelled into from a jump C.
What sort of character is he?
- He has a fireball and an invincible anti-air so he's easy to use for beginners.
- Unlike Ash he's not a charge character.
Other details?
- Voice actor is the same as Ash' (Sounosuke Nagashiro) using a tone of voice that suggests Saiki's attitude of despising humans

BTW tempest, are you not going ever never to translate anything from these new blog updates? I'm asking well because, well; if you go to the cafe you should know or something?SonicTempest wrote: * Snip *

Yeah, I'm aware you post translations on the Cafe, but I always like to go over it myself, just to keep my skills sharp and maybe learn a new kanji or two :)

To me the blog entries are like.... The only escape route that my accumulated hype has. Also the time zone difference of japan really fits me, so I can work on these timely (I over-function during night time, and these are published in my night time). I do kinda cringe through the text times sometimes; even to the point where I want to throw everything at google and then go to bed. But somehow and another, things get through in the end.
Also, to quote myself
Not even 2 hours after the blog update, and I'm already hyped for the next oneStupid Drunk wrote: To me the main point of this one is that they didn't announced the contents of the next update, even though they usually do that; does that mean that the next blog will have new info? Even with miscellaneous info they told you what's going to be next.

Just some game tests locations for consoles in Japan and the official Japanese Covers for the PS3 and the 360.
Adding this on what the entry said...

SNKP is finally going to open demo shows in Japan starting Tokyo on August 20, followed by 4 other cities. Additional locations will be added, and visitors will get a KOFXIII paper folder.
This might actually turn out to be the first time the PS3 version gets unveiled. SNKP seems to be preparing two versions of their paper folder for the two consoles. Either that, or it's the front and back (which is unlikely from reading the description).

Re: The King of Fighters XIII/KOF-i News Thread
Atlus is bringing KOFXIII to PAX (next weekend). I'll be there on Saturday and most probably Sunday as well...will post impressions when I get back, and hopefully some videos as well (all I have is an iPhone, though, so don't get your hopes up too much).
Also is there anything anyone wants me to test while I'm at it?

Re: The King of Fighters XIII/KOF-i News Thread
Hmmm... With so many people killing each other and being an early version that can't be explored at 100%, "trying" too many things is not really an option or something.SonicTempest wrote:Also is there anything anyone wants me to test while I'm at it?
Personally I think that it would be great if a quick pic at the Options menu would be. I doubt anything will actually work, but if they text is there then is enough to check what can be done to some extent (like, is there a "shortcut mode" for quick selecting characters, a blur filter configuration, vibration, language, install and I don't know? choose a wallpaper or something? Probably the possibility of a shortcut mode (I think some other KoFs and Last Blade 2 had it) and a blur configuration would be the most appreciated by the populace.
It's labeled as first part, so it looks like the next update is going to be about stages as well....SonicTempest wrote:Blog post about the new stages in the game
You know? since they didn't announced the contents of this update I was psychotically looking forward to it; constantly checking the site and doing other stalker worthy related activities thinking that something really good was going to fall on us (and not a planet destroyer level meteorite or something).

Those backgrounds are gorgeous. Thinking about the '95 Yagami Team (and the XIII remake) stage now has the awesome side effect of me hearing the AST version of Stormy Saxophone in my head.

Re: The King of Fighters XIII/KOF-i News Thread
The Tokyo public demo is too chaotic...from what I have read...
By Professor @ MMCafe
By Professor @ MMCafe
Shiranui_ninja@DC/RyuEnBu @ SpekSNK (originally in Spanish)This was possibly the worst demo event ever for a fighting game. Quite unorganized, and taking place right next to Club Sega in the main streets-- if you've been to Akiba, you know how congested it gets with pedestrians. In fact, the store clerk started asking SNKP staff to do something about their line because it was long, and sloooow as molassas.
Everyone seems to agree that EX Iori is broken.
The PS3 version, surprisingly, seems better than the 360 version, at least in terms of loading speed. And there's no sound breaking up. However, that might be the TV set's fault rather than the console's since nothing of the kind was reported at Evo or Svb.
EX Iori was playable, he it's not just a simple reskin, he has his own unique animations and his own winning pose, which is his (lovely) crazy laugh victory pose. His EX+P does 3 dps in a row (think of K EX
+P, but instead of 2 he does 3), without a doubt he seem powerful and people couldn't wait to get their hands on him. Mai EX DM can be done in air (reconfirming) and her B>D is not a noncancelable target combo. Ash seems to be sporting a new winning pose against Saiki.
The was around 1 hr of line and they only let you play Arcade mode on EASY, they also gave you a Plastic Sleeve for your game, just as shown in the blog. They also give the "infamous green blob" flyer to everyone who went. The game has a really good filter that almost eliminates the pixels, but it could be the TV though.

Re: The King of Fighters XIII/KOF-i News Thread
Here again with a reminder for the daft ppl that don't visit the front page- there's an interview with Dune about the XIII Console Loke tests and KOF in Japan. Also hours of footage from Gamecom, where you can see stuff like Ryo's new winpose!
