Here's to hoping for the "hold start on a character" concept used in 2k2 so more characters would show up.

no boss, no story mode. notice the teams aren't even arranged properly on the character select screen. ralf and clark aren't even next to each other

I'm assuming that it's opening in preperation for E3 where we will hopefully get a solid release date for the US console release.

EDIT: Looking at the information on the fanart contest in the fanart section, it has an estimated value of the console version of the game at 49 USD. It also says that winners will be selected on august 1st, so presumably the game would already be out, but I guess we already knew that because August is beyond the already established summer release period.

Interview with some guy from Ignition. Not much new info, but they do clarify that the netcode for the game isn't the GGPO middleware.

I'm buying it because I hope that they have hidden characters like Mars People and Ryu in there.

The only good reason not to pre-order/buy XII would be because you are poor or you don't like KOF.

I'm going to stop living as soon as it comes out, I've pre-ordered it from the states! Screw waiting for the Europe release!

I'm not poor, don't hate KoF, and don't exactly think the game is rubbish but I will say that I feel that SNK is kinda taking advantage of it's fans here. I mean I could tolerate the small roster number, lack of story/endings, and even the ridiculous lack of moves for some characters (cough::Mature::cough) but no end boss? That's pretty weak. Christ, all they had to do was recolor the eyes on Kyo's sprite, up his damage, and they could have given us Kusanagi as a boss. Not ideal but it'd at least give players something to do when they aren't/can't/don't want to play online.

As it stands XII seems like a half finished game (which it actually is IMO) - one I kinda resent SNK charging $60.00 US for.
