Great vids kane317, i watched one via subscription yesterday and was pretty shocked at the CC damage one of the players did with terry.
Crazy stuff. xmad
Tiamat wrote: thanks for the vids. I see you guys like ralf and clark a lot there lol

I just wanted to ask, is there a reason you guys can't be more aggressive with Leona? She basically only won by time up, if she won at all. :(
I think the players you see in the vids using Leona don't know how to use her properly in this game, that plus the sticks in that arcade are unfortunately reeeeeeeeally rubbish (I can't even do super on reaction at all :( ). Alot of players over here still haven't really settled into the differences in this game yet.

There is one guy who knows how to use her a bit over here, but he's in France at the moment. :P

Some interesting things I picked up on:
- WTF at Robert's down B hitting a guy who was behind him. What is up with the hitboxes in this game?
- In the Iori vs Iori match in the fourth vid you can see a guard attack activating and then being blocked...so it's not a guaranteed thing (just as PS stated in his initial loketest impressions)
- What was that Iori critical counter where he initiated from a full character length away and the opponent just slumped to the ground? On top of that it looked like he got it from countering the opponent's sweep - I thought CCs only activated when countering a special move? (See http://game.snkplaymore.co.jp/official/ ... tem01.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

That last question is probably best left for the system discussion thread though.
I was so busy that I didn't get a chance to check this thread and how rude of me leaving so many questions unanswered, so I'll try my best and answer them all, feel free to ask anymore questions.

EDIT:
-Guard Attacks (b+CD) CAN be blocked depending on distance and timing; not to be confused with Guard Crush CD (hold CD for ~ 1 sec to crush your opponent's guard).
-Critical counter counters anything other than jjump/air attacks, including DMs as well.
Tiamat wrote:which player are you in the videos Kane? what's your normal team etc?
I don't actually appear until 05-09-09's batch as my friends don't enjoy holding the camera still (manually) as I do haha, I show up first at "Arcade Infinity - KOFXII Casual Matches 4 (05/09/09)". Who I cycle thru is Chin, Kensou, Raiden, Joe, Iori, Robert, Goro...

Hmm, I'm trying to learn Chin but as you can see I'm not doing too well (and as we all know, Chin does not have ONE move that is similar to his pre-kofxii self), really aren't any regular Chin players to learn from so it's all about good ole Arcadia magazine. I don't really have a normal team compared to my sparing partners who have pretty much established 2 of the 3 for the upcoming SNKplaymore LA tourney.
Tiamat wrote:I especially appreciate you putting up videos because it is somewhat hard to come by new KOFXII vids even though it just came out. normally I'd expect a flood of vids but it's not nearly as popular as say...Blazblue
You're very welcome, I like giving back to the community as much as I can coz I *have* been on the receiving side, frustrated that there's not enough vids out there to learn from (2k2UM etc...).

I apologize that the gameplay isn't incredibly high yet, but we've only had the game for less than 2 weeks.
KusoGaki wrote:....To me the properties of things in this game are still really weird.
You better believe it. We had to relearn this whole game all over again, the jumps have different archs, the hit stuns are different again, the grappling properties are the hardest to adjust to imo.

Yeah, try being on the receiving end all the time. My friends frown on me coz I was the one who informed Jon (the 127 win Terry player) about the CC combo...heh

Giby's Youtube account has some more Arcade Infinity vids as well. 37, to be precise.

who is the douchebag that keeps giving KOFXII vids 1 star ratings? a lot of kane and giby's vids are rated 1 star v__v

Question: When people use guard attacks by themselves in videos (just in general) they don't cancel the guard attack into a special. Is there a reason for this? I would expect people to be canceling their guard attacks to specials on hit and block a lot more.

You cannot cancel off guard attacks (b+CD) since they are not cancellable; however guard crush attacks are (hold CD).

This is kind of weird since Arcadia says that Kyo's max damage CC starts with a guard attack...unless the knockdown from the guard attack is subject to the same juggle rules as any other launching hit?

I don't know if you can even hold the b+CD attack. Seems instant to me.

I suppose that's the only exception, during CC you can use a b+CD in combos, but technically they're not cancelled it's just that your character keeps moving forward (sort like Robert's Rush DM).
Tiamat wrote:damn I have been totally confusing the b+C+D and C+Ds this whole time, my mistake *sweatdrop
EDIT:
Heh, I was getting confused in the beginning as well, but it'll be very apparent once you get to play yourself:
-Guard Attacks (b+CD), 1 frame autoguard used chiefly defensively.
not to be confused with...
-Charge Guard Crush CD (hold CD for ~1 sec). Used offensively to guard crush into specials or DMs. If you don't charge they can still be comboed like s.C, CD, Burning Knuckle (qcb+P) for Terry etc...

Might just be me but they seem to be playing very conservatively, probably to avoid eating a CC combo. That and any CC combos we do see aren't particularly good (lol Ryo uppercut three times in a row).

I actually liked the Japanese vids a lot. They were mostly lacking in their combos but I think the gameplay otherwise was good. They may be a little to defensive but I think it's hard to say, they certainly don't get hit nearly as frequently as the US players so there's a tradeoff. Much more hops and throws than vids from arcade infinity or the UK. I especially liked the Shen player who used the blue shirt color, he did some good stuff.

I found thos vid kind of boring, they were playing oldschool and hardly used the new features of the gameplay, like they didnt want to lose more than anything, I didnt see anything i didnt know before.
In London we are still experimenting that is why we do get hit a lot , I do so do robocop 2 and Kusogaki, thing is that we started to understand the system better and I am sure that the next batch of vids will be better to watch.
And for the Hope thing, the sticks on the KOFXII borne are shit they are way to loose to perform hope consistently(IMO), more practice is needed.

Well the combos were lacking because they were mostly going for combos off low attacks (the Kensou player was the exception), and KOFXII doesn't seem to have too many damaging combos that start from low attacks. Since the damage from them is mostly low that's why there are a fair number of time overs too.

It also *looks* like low light attacks are immune (or at least resistant) to getting CCed.

The general playing style is just about what I would expect, but I agree with dobiqwolf that they didn't really show off the new subsystems effectively at all.
