That's what I'm using. It's an OK stick if you're very precise in your motions, but years of sloppy playing on my part means my motions are anything but precise, and to be honest, I doubt I can break that habit. The problem is, if you rotate the joystick around, you'll notice that it rolls in a square shape instead of a circle. Which means while the stick may look and feel like a genuine arcade stick, it doesn't work exactly like one, and you will need to give emphasis to your diagonal commands.

For anyone who cares for the details, the stick has 8 buttons on the main board, and 4 more smaller buttons on top for Turbo, Macro, Select and Start respectively. If you're using Windows XP or Vista, the stick will be automatically detected when you plug it in, though installing the drivers let you program macros.

The controls in 98UM are very forgiving, so I don't get junk inputs, but playing '98 on WinKawaks (or Neogeo Mode in UM) is a different matter altogether, and qcf/qcb motions require proper motioning on my part. Which of course is no problem if it's just a qcf or qcb input, but pulling a Ryuko Ranbu requires more precision than I'm used to, which of hurts when I screw up a combo because the DM doesn't launch. The half-circle and charge commands are no problem though. Generally, SNKP tones down the motioning sensitivity for console ports: I tried playing Maximum Impact Regulation A, and the game commands mostly register smoothly.
My conclusion is, it's an affordable stick that works for PS2/PS3 and PC, and it does its job well enough for what you're paying for, but you should only get this stick if you're the type who motions precisely, or are willing to improve. Otherwise if you're sloppy like me, go for a dedicated PS2/PS3 stick which is a lot more forgiving. Its price is a real draw however: I ended up paying almost as much as I did for the shipping as I did for the stick!

I've noticed there has been a huge rise in the stick modding scene

SANWA parts are what Sega use in their cabinets and console market sticks

You can get these on ebay and make your own

or even upgrade your stick .... theoretically

don't forget... is the labour and postage worth it when you could just buy one?

The potential demand for real good joystick?
Hi guise,

Last time I came to this forum was...6 years ago? I'm Lin Jin the Chinese guy (who rocks) used to play KOF at gd. st. Any familiar faces? I'm sure I have kicked some of your asses bwahahaha...... :3

Recent I have got in touch with some advanced joystick product. I know you guys may have laid your paws on some namco sticks or the like. I used to use those too. What bothered me was there is always a delay at the command transmission between your stick and your PC. No matter how good the stick looks or how smooth the quality is, as long as it uses a usb port, it delays. Because the usb port is not capable of transmitting at a fast enough frame rate.

Until very recently I got to know that there is such a joystick product that comes with LPT port (printer port). I also comes with a independent chipset that is dedicated to command processing. It is good at one thing -- absolutely no delay at all. You can't imagine how satisfied I was, as a KOF lover, when I had this stick. I don't know if you guys have the same problem like I had. Some of you might pursue a better gaming experience as I do. I believe there are some people out there love a 0 delay joystick. Hence I write this thread to call for some opinion because I'm able to supply this joystick into europe market. I would love to put my effort into this matter as long as there is a fair amount of demand.

As to the material the joysticks are consist of professional arcade machine parts. The stick, the buttons. No cheap crap used.

Every stick comes with 3 ports -- usb, Playstation, LPT.

Any further enquiry welcome. Any opinion welcome.

Picture for reference, different layout available to suit major games.

Will it work for both PS2 and PS3 games if you do that?

Actually, scratch that. I tried my Tekken 5 stick + PC Magic Box and my PS3 can't see it at all.

Are both PS3 sticks (VSHG and HRAP3) usable in PS2 games?

apparently, what you're meant to do is try holding the PS button on your PS3 controller and switch between analog and digital...

let me know how this goes... I don't have a ps3 yet!

That doesn't work - you can only switch the mapping of the controller which you're using at the moment, so controllers without PS buttons can't do this.

Oh well, time to save up for that HRAP3 I guess.

This might need some fiddling- a whole load of people said they were happily using their ps2 controllers on their ps3.

Splurged and bought a REAL ARCADE PRO3 SA. Really can't tell the difference between Sanwa and non Sanwa buttons, but eh, whatever.

I think my execution still sucks though -_-;

Also can't seem to get it to work with WinKawaks? Windows actually detects the stick as a stick now instead of my old PS2 joystick -> Magic Box adaptor, which made Windows detect every direction as a button.

PS kawaks doesn't seem to detect those "new" stick drivers for some reason ... but it would detect the whatever -> USB converters ...

You might want to try FBA it should detect it no problems.

I have pluggled my ps2 virtua stick into my ps3 using the adapter and it works no probs - for some reason the ps button is activated when you press x. The buttons are switched though so it's a pain to configure at first.

My friends are hyped about the sfiv sticks by madcatz. Note that in Japan, HORI is making the exact same two models... at least on the outside...
