I remember seeing an interview on the 10th anniversary site that talked about how pretty much all the logos in KoF were done by the same guy except 2002 (and I think one other but I don't remember which). It's funny because it is so obvious. It's a nice start, now all they have to do is tone down the ABC team to give the game some better balance.

Random Info: That (and possibly the SVC Chaos logo) are not done by SNK's resident Logo Designer, Naohisa (NAO Q) Yamaguchi. That's why it looks... what you can say about it. (As Bugle/Hawk'M stated).

But I am looking forward in this one and expect "major changes" in this one...

another good aesthetical change would be to scrap the backgrounds and music and, hell, just recycling this stuff from 99 and 2000 would be probably good enough.

You know, I rather liked the 3D backgrounds from '99 Evolution. They don't look as subtly done as the ones in 98UM, but they were pretty at the time. Although the lovely backgrounds from Evo made the characters look terrible in comparison. So I wonder if 2k2 will get the 3D treatment the way UM got as well. Although to be honest, I'm rather weary of facing Omega Rugal again. It would be nice to see Krizalid in both forms for a change.

I just want a playable Krizalid that looks like the one from 2001 - not the mess that we saw in 99.

I wonder if they'll bother to pull Jhun out of that one 2002 background - it'd be weird fighting him and seeing him in the stage at the same time.

Iggy from MMCafe translated an interview at Fighters Front Line about KOF2002UM, which confirms that
- they're going to redo the aesthetics (minus the sprites) from the ground up (which is good because 2002 looks pretty bad even by KOF standards)
- they're going to concentrate on the NESTS saga ('99-01) when adding characters
- they're going to add more moves than they added for '98UM (which is also good because a lot of 2002 movelists feel stripped down)

They also seem to suggest they want to keep their hands off the system as much as possible, so I don't know if we'll see the types of changes that we did with '98UM.

Iggy's translation also said that they will rearrange the teams due to the addition of the missing NEST era characters - I wonder how that will turn out. I also got the impression that K9999 and Angel might not make the cut (the interviewer asked about them and the subject said something to the effect of there being a version of the original game included that would at least feature them).

That aside, who can we expect as NEST era characters missing from the original?

1999

- Jhun
- Bao
- King*
- Kasumi*
- Xiang Fei
- Shingo*
- Kyo 1
- Kyo 2
- Krizalid

2000

- Lin
- Hinako
- Zero

2001

- Heidern*
- Foxy
- O. Zero
- Igniz
- Ron? (not bloody likely)

*not technically NEST characters but they were included in 99-2K1 yet missing from the original 02

16 new characters (not including Ron)? Not bad...

ahh, sounds good, really good. It's too bad about Angel, didn't she recently appear in some days of memory game, which means they actually own the copyright? I can see why they'd not risk with K9999 tho'.
Krizalid-Angel-Kula for a sexy and classy Nests team!

I hope that they use the new additions to make additional Machinima endings for the game. Seriously, I really liked the little 'skits' at the end of 2002 and would enjoy seeing more featuring the new characters (not as much as actual endings mind you but lets be realistic).

You guys know Bao is going be in it so you best reserve those plane tickets now.

Personally I don't like Bao but I don't care if he's in it as long as all the other characters I listed are as well. If they replace someone from that list with Bao then I'll be pissed...
