New devblog entry up on the official site. It's basically a thank you note to everyone who showed up at the location test, but they also mentioned a few things that will be changed before the next test:
- General interface design (lifebars, power gauge etc) will be tweaked
- They'll add effects to make stuff like DM activation and KO more noticeable
- General tweaking to the critical counter to make it easier to understand and use, general balance changes, etc

The glow on Kyo in the new screenshot indicates that he can do a critical counter. They've also adjusted timings for notifications like DM activation, round start, KO and so on. Mainly cosmetic changes.

And yeah, the new HUD looks better than the old one.

Thanks to koffan at S-C for some of these.

Most notable change so far is that the super flash has a black background again and is much easier to spot. On top of that it looks like the game has been speeded up again.

Also, it looks like your power gauge doesn't start draining once it hits MAX anymore, although the new gauge that they've added for the critical counter does. Looks like that gauge fills up as you deal or take damage.

It also sounds like certain characters have multiple voice samples for each move - check out the fifth video and listen to Terry's two samples for his Power Wave.

Well, well - this is a nice surprise. Game speed looks good, non-decreasing super bar is great, being able to combo into supers is wonderful. The game is certainly coming along - things look quite promising now. TOo bad all the players skipped the victory poses in those vids though - would have liked to see them.

And considering the retro movelist vibe it's interesting to see them give Benimaru a new move (the lightning summon strike he hits Terry with in that one video). I wonder if they worked on him before deciding not to make XII a canon title.

Loved the fact that they are rather keen on fixing stuff that didn't look good.

But Iori pretty much plays the same way, mostly. From the vids people just play him like previous Ioris.
Critical counter seems interesting as it gives you a chance to do some new combos, but I doubt that I can react that fast in a game unfortunately.

At the bottom of the page, KOF XII will definitely appear in AOU 2009 on the 20th and 21st, this month.

(I think that this will be the only SNKP game to appear in AOU 2009)

What most people are forgetting is that the game runs on Ttx2; the game can have patches and updates. The VERY good thing about this being a dream match is that they can add any character they wish. Wish mode on- Maybe they'll conduct some sort of poll or something, in order to add some insanely popular character(s).-Wish mode off. wow
