SBO Live Stream + Results Posted

Apparently there's going to be some sort of live stream for some selected matches. KOF98UM will be on the 16th.

Here's the site to stream from:

http://www.famitsu.com/tougeki08final/live.html

Schedules are here:

http://www.tougeki.com/images/top/top_final_08_time.jpg

http://www.famitsu.com/tougeki08final/

Anyone wanna try recording this?

I read about this earlier too and was gonna post about it. Damn I wonder how good the quality is?
Strange, I got it to work 6 hours ago (course nothing was playing) when it asked me to install the plug-in, now it's just looping me in circles...

EDIT: Got it to work, everytime I click the "Live on Internet" then "click here" it'll loop me back to the page in Japanese. Turns out the "Live on Internet" was the first one down from the list instead of the second last like it was on the Google-Translated version.

Quality is good.

Question: Forgive me as I don't follow SBO much, but what's this stuff about a "Farewell Party" at the site? Is this supposed to be the very last SBO to take place?

Skimming the text it looks like a party for all the players to mingle before they return to their home countries.

Ah, I see. I got worried for a minute there.
Also, I wasn't aware that Hokuto no [s]Toki[/s] Ken was still popular enough to warrant it showing up at SBO.

NOTE: You'll need to have Internet Explorer as well as install extra software (ugh) to watch the live stream.
[s]And if you were waiting for 98UM, now is the time to watch![/s]

Scratch that, I can barely even watch the stream, and now it seems they're running KOF matches from SBO '07.
Oh wait, it's not a 100% Live Feed, it seems.

Live Stream (?)

They were playing some old clips as well. The schedule is a little off, they are showing SFIII now, I hope they are just really behind schedule and I didn't miss it.

Sounds like Kyappu may very well be SBO Champion as he qualified with EX Geese, Iori, Krauser..and I wonder if that's the team Tokido used also since he used him a few times at EVO.

Wasn't Kyappu. Kyappu got knocked out in the first round.

The runner up was the Taiwanese representative, "Bun".

I'll help finish the rest of the chart.

Results from the QuarterFinals:
Orochi Yashiro, Ex Geese, Krauser (Kego 3)
beats
Ralf, Yashiro, Daimon (Gosho)

Yuri, Krauser, Heavy D! ("Bun")
beats
Iori, Krauser, Orochi Yashiro (Secretary)

Ex Geese, Iori, Krauser (McKee)
beats
Yuri, Kim, Krauser (777)

Brian, Eiji, Krauser (Chawan)
beats
Iori, Orochi Chris, Krauser (Butter @ Kansai)

Results from SemiFinals:
Yuri, Krauser, Heavy D! ("Bun")
beats
Orochi Yashiro, Ex Geese, Krauser (Kego 3)

Ex Geese, Iori, Krauser (McKee)
beats
Brian, Eiji, Krauser (Chawan)

EDIT: The Japanese notations of Quarter/Semi/-Finals confused me so I corrected it.
---
Quick observations:

-Out of the Top 64 contestants, exactly half of them chose Krauser, with Iori followed close behind (27).

-Out of the Top 8, SEVEN(!) used Krauser. Everyone in the Semi and the Champion used Krauser. Damn Krauser.

-Unusual character(s) that made it to the SemiFinals: Brian. Followed by Eiji then Yuri.

-No Kyo made it to the Top 8.

-2 Reg.Yuris made it to the Top 8 whereas no Ex Yuris did (Strange to me at least...someone convince me why Reg.Yuri is better than Ex Yuri)

-Only 1 Ex Mary in the Top 64, and no Ex Yama (1 Reg.Yama).

-Nobody used Choi in the Top 64 but he's listed very high-up in several tier lists

-Gonna buy the DVD

so what about the guy who used triple random to qualify for SBO? Did he get knocked out in the first round????

50% of people using krauser, I guess that's better than the 80%% using at least one of the KGO team in KOF XI at SBO :P

also, it seems, like Kane pointed out, there seems to be a gravitation to absolute top tier, not the other contested high/top tiers e.g. choi, ex king, ex yuri etc.

Yeah, I liked how 27 Iori users got cut down to 3, less thrilled about how half of the players started with Krauser and 7/8 of the final eight used him. I wanna buy the DVD too but damn, I wish the interviews were subbed or something, especially with the price you'll be paying.

I thought it was damn cool how the only Kim user made it into the final eight. Of course the Kim player *was* 777, but it shows that dedicated character use definately allows you to beat the majority of tier abusers.

Add normal Yashiro to the list of 'unexpected' characters to make it to the final 8.

Very shocked how no Ex King or Ex Yuri players made it to the final 8, a bit less shocked how no Kyo players made it (he has tough matches against guys who can control space and keep him out, like Krauser, Ex Yuri, Kings, Yuri and Ex Geese).

And yes, lol at Choi for winning the "where the hell am I" award. Kings and Ex Yuri win the award for "wtf, I thought being safe guaranteed tournament results".

I'm as shocked as you are about how Yuri outperformed Ex Yuri. Will definately want to watch the matches involving the Yuris. Too bad NESTSZERO hasn't uploaded any matches featuring "Bun" yet...

Anyway for anyone who missed the stream, its on Youtube now.

Edit:

Yah Triple Random guy got knocked out in the first round. He used Krauser, Orochi Chris, King (meh).

Lol..we think alike. Duly noted about Regular Yashiro.

About the 27 Ioris to 3 by the QuarterFinals: If he came out this year for the first time, I think more ppl would have difficulty playing against him, but after--what is it, 13 years, you tend to pick up on patterns and he's not as much as a threat =).

There were more Kim players back in the original '98 (at least back in HK)...shame, I loved watching high-level Kim play. I booed when Brian didn't make past the SemiFinals...but that's still an amazing feat.

Regarding the Yuris...I thought it was weird... ' is there something abour Reg.Yuri that I don't know about? ' Ex Yuri's Saifa (qcb+P) alone makes her better than Reg.Yuri.

I was also cheering for the triple random guy, but I guess it's inevitable that he chose his characters--it would be crazy if he didn't.

I kind of get the impression from that youtube vid that EX Yuri wasn't being used to the best of her capacity here. Plus looking at the matchups she lost I think she had some pretty bad matchups in there like EX Geese and Orochi Chris.

Yes, I have to agree. Choi is crazy in this. All you have to do is get in hit confirm the lights into super all day.
