I'm in. It's going to be huge. A life's work. But I don't think it'll be in gamefaqs, because it's going to have graphics and videos.

I'm thinking of calling it a FOOK (FAQ/Book), funny no? But it will be graphical so should I call it a Fagook? But it'll have videos too, so maybe I should call it a Vifagook?

What do you think?

EDIT: Ahhhhh I signed the contract and started teaching, I'm stuck, no time for this. Sorry!!!! But if anyone else feels like stepping up to the challenge, perhaps the discussion below may be of help

mh, i suggest to make a low version for gamefaqs, maybe in the header u can link the huge one.

u know... normally gamefaqs is the first site who a player may look around when any hint regards a game is needed.

great idea btw :)

Go For it i say.

But talk to gamefaqs about it. Who knows they might be down with hosting it.
Exceptions can be made for new innovative idea's
If not you can always link the FAQBook (yes that's what its called) from gamefaqs
if you have to. You have nothing to lose.

Screw Gamefaqs. Ever since it was bought out by CNET it's been reduced to an inflexible machine process anyway. They won't allow HTML faqs even if the images are linked from another site because Gamespot doesn't want competition for their "online guides." Not that they'll do a KOFUM guide anyway.

How is this gonna be a large FAQ unless 85% of the info is regular 98 info? There's nothing really new to UM (to the naked eye it is). :/

But yes, it's a good start to at least make ON something again rather than a place for people to just talk about gaming news and fool around in the stupid room.

that's great Gunny, go for it. While you're at it register the domain GameFooks.com.

Fook sounds like a random Cantonese guy.

Go for it Gun! The more guides there are for 98UM, the better! Speaking of which, GameFAQs is really screwed up. For some reason, my guide isn't showing up on the PS2 version even when I specifically left a note that it was meant for both arcade and PS2 versions during my last update. Of course, I can just upload a new file for the PS2 version, but then I'd have to manage two identical files in different areas.

just do it Tel - I was not impressed to see that fake faq up on the site. God knows what poor souls actually think it's a decent FAQ.

I'll make a text version I guess, but it's not going to be any use without the screenshots etc...

Mook = Graphical Book

Vook = Video Book ?

It joys me that KOF '98 UM, essentially a 10 year old game, elicts so much passion in ppl that seemingly have stopped playing KOF actively anymore. It's not just you Gunny, I have 2-3 close friends that stopped playing after 99-2k just coz "it's never gonna be as good as '98" and now they are playing again.

It reminds me of the good ol' KOF Mailing list days lol.

Indeed. I just wish there were more arcade machines around. Playing on the PS2 and arcade are just different experiences. Back during the 97/98 days, KOF was a huge social thing. It was still a social outing with the later games, but the crowd was at its peak in 98.
