Something I noticed in one of the vids.
Chang enters Max Mode (when he's using Extra-style meter and has red life). His does a +A slide> Cancel into f+AB roll
You would expect that this would end his Max Mode, just like in regular 98, but it leaves with him half a bar of Max mode still...
So anyone test this more? Does this mean that getting into Max mode in Extra mode will give you 1-2 or even 3 guard cancel CDs/Rolls? Does it matter if your life is red? If so, its just another thing that makes Extra-style meter a lot more viable than people are currently giving it credit for. 1.25 damage and 2 guard cancel CDs worth of meter, just for a bursting a stock? Sounds too good to be true...
I'll test it the next time I get to go to the arcade... no idea when that will be though...

Tried this today admist getting challenged by 83763217 peeps when I'm clearly playing to show that I'm testing stuff (maybe that's why they challenged me)...anyway! What I theorized above is correct, after a stock burst you can do two roll cancels and each one will only take you around half the bar.
Note that I only did this with the Extra mode bar, so if someone did it with the Advance bar, be sure to share the luv.

It seems that no matter how much "max bar" you have left during Max Out mode in Extra, doing a DM/SDM or Guard Crush CD will deplete the entire bar, but doing an roll cancel only depletes a portion of it.
I guess this makes sense since it means that if you're maxed out and you attack the opponent, expecting him to GCCD, you can roll cancel through his GCCD and still SDM combo him, something which wouldn't be possible in Extra mode but possible in Advance mode if roll cancels took off the entire max bar.
It also allows characters with funky roll cancel combos to do in Extra mode, what would otherwise only be possible in Advance mode. For e.g., Andy can supposedly do this combo: (corner) +P> [df+A (1 hit)> attack-cancel roll] xn> +A (2 hits) > Usual follow ups. If not for this mechanic, the repeated juggles would only be possible in Advance and not Extra mode.
Don't know if it works with dodge cancelling, but it should too.

I can probably squeeze in Extra Mode's Attack Cancel.PenPen wrote:The vid is nice, Takahashi, but I think you missed out on Extra's attack cancel (AB during any normal/command moves).
And a Roger Ramjet Proton Energy Pill zomg
Vimeo seems to allow replacement videos.
That pill has a start up time and works for a short time also.

AE brought to my attention that in Extra mode you walk faster than you do in Advance mode--and it makes a significant difference.
To be specific, even if you have "step" in ultimate mode it'll make you walk faster (remember, "dash", is fwdx2 for advance mode; the terminology is confusing).
Examining the '08 SBO runner-up "Bun", reveals just how effective walking forward and poking with s.A with Yuri. It cleanly beats Krauser's pokes...she's damn fast.
I should add that everyone's 'step' is different. Geese for instance, barely leaves the ground and covers decent distance. O.Yashiro's has a different arc and is more like a mini hop. Freaking Choi's covers more than half a screen in ONE step!
