So I finally got to play UM yesterday. Great game, but I was wondering about the input speed. I had trouble getting stuff like Terry's dB dA to come out - have timings in general been made more strict?

They're about the same as 98. If you had a hard time linking crouching B into crouching A with some characters then, you'll likely have the same problems now. I have problems doing so with Heidern and Leona. I find the inconsistency with light combo timings in 98(UM) strange actually. Some characters link B to A easily, like Kyo and King, but some characters have strict cancel timings for their light attacks. Maybe I'm just a little too spoiled with XI and 2k2.

'98 (UM) Just requires that you pay attention to the timing. Frankly I find the timing for XI and 2k2 too lenient. I found that by really studying the animation of the punch or kick "retracting", my chains have been more consistent. I suppose it's only fair to say that '98 (UM) has the strictest timing for chains.

I'm waiting for the XBLA version that's coming out next year. I don't have an Xbawks but my friend got one, and I'm going to get him to download it without him knowing.

My copy is sitting on my desk right now. Will try it out when I get home.

The back of the case doesn't have a box for 'progressive scan' (as my other PS2 games do) which is somewhat annoying.

OK, the game does support progressive scan it looks like (my PS3 is outputting it at 480p without any of the upscaling options turned on).

Also, the game comes with a bonus DVD containing all the KOF'98UM trailers, some KOF'98UM wallpapers, a KOF XII trailer and some KOF XII wallpapers. Unfortunately it's all FLV so the quality is pretty bleh.
