I'm on an Xbox 360 (so I'd assume that I'm part of a minority on this forum ). I've been using a Hori Fighting Stick EX2 for the past couple of years, and for the most part, it's served me well.
Now, for some reason or another, the cable's being REALLY finicky. I have to hold it in a certain position just so the cable will work with anything (I use it with my Xbox and computer, so I can confirm that there are no problems with what the cable is being plugged in to). As you can imagine, this is pretty hard to do when you're playing a hectic match (I just lost a match in MvC3 because of lag and the fact that my controller disconnected 3+ times, often during crucial moments).
So, for those who use arcade sticks, what's a good one to get? At the moment, I'm looking at this Chinese-made stick:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/QANBA-Q3-XBOX-36 ... 1036wt_905" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It says it's made with genuine Sanwa parts, and a review I read on the SRK forums says it's pretty good, but do you guys have any suggestions? Keep in mind that I'm not willing to fork out $250 for a TE stick or anything. And I'm CERTAINLY not going to try and fix the cable myself (my last arcade stick-related DIY project ended up being a very expensive lesson in soldering). Don't really think another Hori is a good idea at the moment, either.
Thanks in advance, ONslaughts! (See what I did there?)

Qanba's are ok. Essentially they're custom sticks with sanwa parts and a custom made base. They're a cheap alternative to a TE or VLX.

i think i know the webmaster. but theres no way you can afford his stuff anyway.
Qanba sounds like it's in your price range. If it really is all Sanwa, then go for it, not much can go wrong. Note that Sanwa's are actually quite loose so make sure you try out a TE to er, try before you buy
Why don't you just get another hori?

Giga D does custom sticks for a much lower price iirc. Have a look at his work here - he'll even show you how to make em:

He did the insides for my Datel stick, bloody good job

I looked at it, where's his site? How do I get in contact with him? I didn't see a website.

fyi, EMP's management is much worse. Triforce talks smack and leaves everyone else to back it up. all wins are under his banner, you're not really 'in control' so to speak'. he also threatened some of his former players when they wanted to be released from the contract.

Woooh drama
It's a good thing we're not into SF, wouldn't be surprised they're having a few forum wars there...
@ FH - Giga D works HERE, pm him

Ah, I had no idea. I'm sure the Tourney Stick will be pricey. I'm assuming he can do all the construction too right? I'm just too fucking lazy to put it together myself.
Okay, I'll stop haranguing you and go bother him.

Re: Time For A New Arcade Stick... o'clock.
If I had the ambition, I'd mod my stick. I'd prefer a octagon gate over the square one in mine, and different color buttons. A Prince motif would be neat, because I know no one else would even think of it. Or some fancy schmancy design involving purple..but that generic ass SF motif has to go.
Never mind me, just thinking out loud for the most part.

Re: Time For A New Arcade Stick... o'clock.
Funnily enough, I still have a Sanwa JLF and an octo gate lying around the place. Anyone know:
1. Where I can get some decently-priced arcade parts in Australia (near Brisbane if I can't buy online), and
2. What kind of PCB I should get?
