Just wanted to rant a bit. What the fuck is up with these goatass mofo's who act like you owe them some twisted, sick loyalty because somehow you share a background? Whether ethnic or religious, they act like you owe them something or like you are not *enter nationality/race/religion* enough. I had to shut this dude up who literally cackled through about seven of my "no's" when bothering me about (being able to) speak(ing) arabic or turkish to him instead of dutch. It's not that i don't speak it, i just don't want to speak it to somebody who thinks i owe him something.

Sounds familiar. You know, i can accept that if it's somebody who's there when things need to be done/people need help.
As long as people don't bother me and act superior or act like you're a traitor/bad person because:
1. They're "better" at blindly believing something, then adhering only to what suits them about it.
2. You also appreciate the actual place you live rather than just your parents birthplace and nothing else. Apparantly this makes you a traitor of some kind.

A lot of greeks just assume I can speak greek and start talking to me that way. Then they get offended when I answer in english.
I understand it perfectly but I can't speak a lick of it. Odd I know.

I also don't understand why people get offended when you don't speak their language. It's even funnier when Mexicans talk to my Thai-Chinese bosses in spanish and get pissed when they don't understand them.
My mother(2nd gen) gets upset when people speak to her in spanish. She understands it and speaks it(badly), but she doesn't like it when they assume that's her main language. I don't speak a word of it. I don't intend to learn, either.

"Hey, are you Chinese?"
"No."
"Oh, so then you're Japanese?"
"No."
"What are you, then?"
"I'm American, sir."
"Come on, you know what I mean."
"Not really."
"No, seriously. Where are you from?"
"The good ol' U.S. of A. Don't know about you, though."
I could have gone on like this forever.

For real. One time is enough. Say what you want then let it go.
Came to a bit of a "problem" The same group of idiots who irritated me when i opened this topic, speaking behind my back as i walk by, saying some nasty shit, guess they assumed i don't speak any Turkish at all. Since it wasn't the first time or second for that matter, and i was kinda zoned out walking an hour i just spat on the dudes feet right in front of him and smiled in his face. I know it sounds immature but it's satisfying and all the energy they deserve.
