going to tokyo again, suggestions on where to go

2nd time to tokyo, staying for 2 weeks. im staying the first week in my girlfriend's home, but next week i gotta bounce coz her strict japanese dad will come back after that. so,

knowing how some of u have travelled there solo, do u guys have any recommendations for fairly decent [and what would be considered a fair price] hotels/hostels/etc to stay in for a week or so in tokyo that i cud just crash in? I'd spend most of the day outside of course.

also, i told my gf that im otaku and she suggested i go to this maid cafe or see cosplayers on streets, but im not that interested. are there any realy really interesting places that otakus like us would be blown away by? like snk world, or some big franchise gimmick place that maybe normal citizens in japan wont think of? i'm leaving near the end of march so i will see the sakura bloom for sure.

also just in case plz dont post any comment about this outside of ON, i.e. DA or facebook, im only confiding it in this forum! :salute:

Esaka, if you're an SNK otaku, you will be blown away just by seeing Geese (SNK) tower - if they still have the logo on it... if not, just stand under the subway bridge and do the 98 set photo. Go to akihabara for goods, buy a stick ^^

Stay in a love hotel lol - it should be credit card automatic so nobody knows you're staying on your own but don't play with the famicon, they will charge you extra!

that's all I know- you can google for otaku/anime guides to staying in japan, loads of ppl doing the trip now

argh... 2 times in japan, and could never find time to visit Osaka a full day to try and find SNK HQ... Gun by any chance could you do a dumb friendly map on how to get there?

anyway, for an otaku... akihabara should be more than enough to waste a week on it...

and bluebird , just dont get caught on your GF's home! :P

map from the station

getting to Esaka station, well if you can figure out how to use the trains, then simply get the Kita Osaka Line. You'll see SNK from the train and realise you're on THE bridge!

oh and yes, get your gf pregnant, japan needs more foreign blood lol

Accomodations:
I quite like staying in Ikebukuro, it's not that expensive, the station itself is pretty close to places of attraction like Shinjuku, Shibuya, etc, and Sunshine City is not only a huge ass complex (more akin to American style malls so you might find it more comforting), but all around it there's stuff for the otaku to look at: There's an animate, k-books, manga no mori etc all close by. 2 places I've stayed at before are:

Kimi Ryokan:
http://www.kimi-ryokan.jp/

and House Ikebukuro:
http://www.housejp.com.tw/

Although the latter might only speak Mandarin Chinese as opposed to Cantonese (You do speak Cantonese, right?)

Akihabara:
The stuff that Gun has on there is still pretty much there, if I were to add anything it would be:

The huge Sega arcade is good for checking out the latest stuff, but if you actually want to play with others (and aren't afraid of getting your arse kicked) walk further down a bit to the Taito HEY arcade. Fighters are on the 3rd floor, and while KOF has never been as popular in Japan as say Guilty Gear, you'll find the 98 machines almost constantly occupied.

If you want cheap otaku goods, the building with K-books right as you come out of it is a good start - there's been a whole swarm of anime figurine shops opening up in that building. Also, if you're feeling more adventurous, try seeking out some of the Liberty stores - there's no English at all if I recall, but there's a huge catalogue of 2nd hand goods, and the prices are normally pretty damn competitive.

As an aside, I recommend Harajuku on Sunday morning/afternoon - there's always a large crowd of cosplayers around the station, Meiji Jinguu is a beautiful place and provides a nice, serene contrast to the chaos and madness of the cosplayers and the walk down Takeshita Dori.

I think you should've been a bit more detailed on what meant what kind of otaku you were. Otaku in Japanese means something like " a person obsessed with a particular hobby". In the west it generally means "anime fan".

Doesn't Japan still have a NeoGeo Land or did that close down.

thanks guys for the tips, [except for the pregnant advice]

ps i checked out the websites, the ike house needs 2 months reservation and the other one says that its fully booked during the days i need it otherwise it looks alrite.

i'll mention Akihabara to her and esaka station. does anyone know where that giant porn store is thats like 3-4 floors? i'd really like to visit those in person instead of just reading stuff on the net too. this time round i'd like to see all the bizzarer things in tokyo.

w/ lube and toilet roll, no doubt

I think you should tell your gf you want to have babies, she'll get broody and pay for your hotel.

Oh and try to find a used tampon/underwear vending machine.

and tell all the gaijin u meet to gtfo

pay a teen for sex

If you see any punks squatting on the ground looking mean, kick them in the face and tell them to go to church

grope girls in the subway

steal yen from the top of arcade machines

bring your gf to lots of porn shops, it's hilarious watching businessmen scatter

Smoke mild seven

have unprotected sex

Drink Boss canned coffee

ejaculate inside your gf

Chew coffee chewing gum

after ejaculation pull up her legs to ensure no semen escapes

tell a police officer in english that you've molested children and have a good day

oh and if you can afford travel, visit the gardens in Kyoto
