Yes it does. There is a lot of time and effort that goes into maintaining a collection that size. Once it gets that large the collector changes into someone driven to spend more focused energy on increasing and preserving their collection than interacting in a social manner. Sure he's not gonna just be locked in a room with them for every waking moment, but I refuse to believe that anything in that size and still in good condition was just a side line hobby.

By that logic, the guys up on the fifth floor of my workplace who make artwork with jellybeans as a hobby are all social misfits who can't hold a steady job.

Oh wait, they're all software engineers.
