Enjoying music - how do you do it?
Post

Just a silly question that popped into my head.
What's your reaction when you hear a really good piece of music?
My reaction often tends to be quite...physical. I bop my head, tap my feet/hands, air drum/guitar, whatever. If I hear music I REALLY like, I even go as far as to hum or sing along (even though I suck balls at this).
I'm probably a rather extreme case though :P

Oh yeah, i am a music freak! I go also all physical. Jamming my head, tapping my foot or bouncing legs, sometimes humming the track... looks weird when i'm in the subway or the bus and i am having my personal concerts, specially surroudned by dull, boring looking chinese mob,

I studied music for years so I have specific tastes. I don't do anything physical, but then with the kind of music I like you usually can't do that to it anyway.

Depends on the genre.
Classical + jazz = background music. Soft.
Hip-hop, rock and such = if it ain't loud, what's the pt.
====
And how I react when its on depends all on my mood.

I don't do anything physical either but I find I get the most of my music when I just sit still, close my eyes, and concentrate. I really like to get whatever I'm listening to deep into my head.

Mostly my physical reaction towards a song or a track comes in when it's something catchy, and after listening it for a while. Nothing too major, though - it's either a finger tap on a desk or one of my legs tapping the ground.

Usually when it's a slow-ish song, the most extreme thing i find myself doing in response to sing with the song.
Whenever i get my pop-hip-hop-dance song streak though, i sometimes find myself semi-dancing in place. (Find it helpful to shift your attention for a while when doing work X_x; )

For me it depends on the particular piece of music. I'm just as likely to become entranced, nearly zombified, as to start air-playing, directing or singing.
I'm much more physical about music I intensely dislike. Namely moving away quickly, or punching something or someone until they put it out.

There are times I do something physical, like tapping on stuff really loud which can annoy most people, like my siblings. Usually, the taps follow the drum beats.
I even try to sing the song with the wrong lyrics, especially if the song is in Japanese, or another language.

I hum, or whistle, or make better sounds of it, and shaking my head...

Sometimes I may make some minor movements with my hands or head, but I just like to listen carefully to it if it sounds good.
Then it usually runs through my head and I start humming it.
