When you consider the fact that these are in fact conservative estimates, it really puts things in perspective...

"... and global warming was likely to influence the intensity of tropical storms.

Farkin' screw those who don't care about global warming! *throws rocks at em countries who don't care about emissions*

And to think that a major typhoon can cover most of the PH, geez.

And it's funny. The winter here in China has been hella cold. At least by far colder than the last year.

My own experience suggests that something really is up with the weather. Last semester when I flew to Seattle for my Microsoft interview, it snowed the entire time I was there. The employees assured me that something like that is a pretty rare occurrence.

When I was in Singapore over the break it was pretty much raining non-stop (It was raining when I got off the plane, and it didn't stop raining for another 2 days). I went something like 2 weeks without leaving the house because it was raining all the damn time. Singapore has a tropical climate, yes, but it's never rained THAT much before.

And of course the week I returned to Austin, my flight (and the first two days of class) were cancelled because...it was snowing. In Dallas and in Austin. And it NEVER snows here.

It is anecdotal evidence (so take it with a heapful of salt) but I can't help wondering what exactly is going on with the weather and whether global warming has something to do with it.

Yeh, also, during these cold days (now it's sun and shiny, yet still quite cool wind), was also raining for 2 days. And also it's rare that rains here during winter.

Oh well... we'll be fucked up sooner or later.

Meanwhile...

But yeah, last summer here, the heat got up to 110 w/ the heat index.

Plus, until the inclement weather we had a couple of days ago, the past 4 winters here have been warm. 60 to 70 degrees in the daytime warm, unknown of here.

I don't like the doin's a-transpirin'.

Copyright your name. You could've gotten paid right there.

Pretty hot over here last summer. Some of my anime crap started to melt and warp. I had put 2 fans in my room full blast. Probably gonna be the same this year.

Ironically, over here Jeddah is still as hot as it is despite the change in the seasons. It's as if they don't exist.

I hear Riyadh is unusually colder in the past few weeks, though. But there's still no snow neither are mornings below, say, 20 degrees Celcius.

Wow. It's cool to read in this topic how the weather is from all areas of the world. In Melbourne, the weather has always been crazy and inconsistent, but I have noticed that there has been very little rain this summer. Usually even in summer, there would be periods of a few days where it was raining and quite cool, but now it's pretty just mass heat. There are also extensive droughts and strict water restrictions have been put in place, eg. no using hoses during daytime.

It's odd, then, that we've had such a crazy winter here. First the strongest windstorm in decades knocked out all our power for 10 days (just in time for Christmas), then it snowed. And then a few weeks later it snowed again. And then 5 days later it snowed on top of that snow. And yet for the last 8 years we've hardly had any snow at all. It's really quite messed up.
