See guys, I finally decided to use this wonderful tool known as the internet to buy all my VG needs. Only problem is, I don't know:
-How to tell a place is reliable or not.
-How to deal with places like eBay.
-How to create a PayPal account.
For now, I just want to create my PayPal account, so I can transfer some money to my friend that lives in Japan, so he can send me my LB2 and Garou for Dreamcast. Then, in december I'll get 2 things for a special person's birthday, and... well, dunno about the rest, but I'm pretty sure I'll find stuff that will interest me.
Help, please

read the instructions! paypay will take a week but otherwise simple. Just complete enrolment, which means keeping an eye on your statements. I advise setting up your internet banking account if your bank offers that.
As for ebay, just look at their feedback, then google for "fake ebay x", x being your chosen goods. Then inspect thoroughly.
As counterfeiting is so good these days it's pretty damn hard to get anything genuine. You will need to contact the seller in advance and ask them if it is original and made by the company, not just "authentic" (as that means "looks just like") etc.
There are now guides on ebay on how to buy the real deal. I was trying to buy Nike Shox the other day. Bloody hell, it's tough. The biggest clue was that Nike don't make that many colours of model... but this seller had variations like a rainbow and 900+ feedback... but he wouldn't answer my email... pffff

Please explain this a bit more. If necessary, I will have to go to my bank and see if they have to validate my card for online transactions

Basically he's saying that you should go to your bank and see if they have an internet banking program, like one that lets you check your account from home. So then if you want to check your account to see if there is something fishy going on with your paypal account. To be honest I just run paypal through my credit card for my ebay purchases and I've never had a problem. Online shopping is pretty much safe as long as you aren't stupid. I'd say only order from big name sites Amazon and Overstock and stuff you've probably seen commercials on tv for or online extensions of regular chain stores.

I've never seen TV commercials of Amazon ;P
I want to buy some stuff from Play-Asia and GKWorld. Both stores SEEM to be very serious.
And yeah, I'm gonna check that thingy at my bank. Though the card with Mastercard seal, I've never used it, I'd only use it for online transactions.

I can vouch for Play Asia myself, but if you are unsure about any online store just search it up. If people are having horror stories with it, there will be talk about it.

Check cards will act as credit cards IF they have the Visa/Mastercard logo on them.

There are rare instances where that's not the case. I remember when Ragnarok Online was in closed beta, and Gravity accepted only credit cards with the Visa/Mastercard logo, not check cards. I thought that was very very weird.

I paid for RO using a check card with the Visa logo on it.

Yes, but not during closed beta.
