EURO 2008 Discussion Topic

So EURO 2008 starts this weekend! Germany are the outright favorites for some reason, but didn't they finish second in their qualifying group to the Czech Republic? Spain are looking strong as always, but I expect them to bottle it, as always. Cannavaro out for Italy? They are in the group of death along with France and Holland - who knows what will happen there. Transfer rumours surround Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, and he has always been the subject of debate as to his big-game prowess. How will the Player of the Year respond to such circumstances? England failed to qualify, of course.

So there's a lot of troubles surrounding the big nations in this tournament. Perhaps a team like Greece in 2004 can make some shocking progress. I have my eye on Croatia, who helped knocked out England in the qualifiers, and Russia, who have Guus Hiddink at the helm who has proved that he can turn any team in contenders.

So who is everyone's picks for the tournament? Golden Boot? Dark Horses? Would also be interesting to hear from Sheba and Fuu on France and Italy's chances.

EDIT: Wow this topic is over a year old. Anyway, talk about WC stuff here.

EDIT 2: 3 years old topic ftw!

EDIT 3: EURO TIEM!!!

It looked funny, but if it put off the opposing players, then he should do it all the time.

He looked like a starfish with jelly legs.

Wahey. Was worth the wait to see the club return back to their glorious form after all this time (even if there may not be subsequent follow ups for a while)

A very exciting match, but mostly decided on luck. Not that Liverpool didn't deserve to win, but they really had maximum result from minimun effort. Like 3 shots - 3 goals, or close. And Dudek really did the impossible.
But it really shows that at times Milan has a lack of mentality. Who remember Deportivo - Milan? With such an incredible team, taking 3 goals in 6 minutes.

Hey guys. I know i'm a little late with this :P

Fantastic Match. They looked down and out and I was about to sleep before they pulled one back. How they ever managed to pull back 3 goals in 10 minutes is incomprehensible. Poor Dudek though. After putting in the best match of his life, he's losing his spot to Reina... Football's a funny game.

And in other news.

Essien wants to go to Chelsea? Wow. I have lost my respect for him. But then again... I say that to any player post Mourinho who moves to Chelsea because of their delicious, chocolate flavoured salary packages.
