Depends, now my folks are wise spenders and they have their insurance paid up and everything. They try to stay in decent shape so most likely they woudln't need the extra help. But if I am finacially capable to take care of them I would kick something their way, if they need it or not.

I'm sure my parents won't allow me to pay anything to them... for their fucking pride to be hardworking and earn everything by their own way. But if the situation is really out of control, I wouldn't mind helping them out.

I'd go 'depends' too.

If they had ruined your childhood through beatings and crap, and if they had given you enough moments to be glad to be alive.

Looking at the way things are going now, my poor parents are screwed :( Not that I am going to let them rot in the streets, it's just that I don't collect paychecks as of yet, and they are pushing retiring age.

No.

Parents have an obligation to their children until the children are grown up and have children of their own, in which case, the "adult offspring" of the original couple have the responsibility to care for their own offspring, not their parents.

Adults should take care of themselves, and not think that they can cruise because they already raised some kids.

On the other hand, if you feel a moral obligation to take care of your parents, that's a pretty outstanding thing to do, but it is not that you "owe" it to them, you merely desire, for personal reasons, to return the favor.

Anyone who believes that they "owe" their parents anything, is extremely disturbed.

I promised my mother I would help her out when I was a kid. Even though she would beat the crap out of me sometimes, I promised to do so because I witnessed her struggle(two f-t jobs etc.) to raise us. I'll probably let her live in my house so she can help me with my kids. LMAO

grandparents are far cheaper than nannies but have a tendency to spoil.

in this day where both parents work, someone to look after kids is another bill....

I think I'll reconsider having kids.

I am quite confused on this subject. My parents tell me that they don't need my help because they have spent on their pensions and stuff for the future.

But they keep nudging me about making money of my own and giving something back to them o_Oa I dunno if that's to keep my morale on getting a job or something.

Welll, in the first place, I'll have her live with me, I'll feed her give her a salary(allowence) and give her a place to live (rings a bell?) And when she gets to be really old then I'll have my kids (proly teens by then) take care of her needs(if she is some how incapacitated.) LMAO

They should be able to support themselves. However, you should watch over them and keep them in mind. You know. Visit them regularly. Have dinner with them. Buy them flowers. It's like Tom Cruise's character, Vincent, from Collateral (Maybe not the best example.) said: "She carried you in her womb for nine months. People buy flowers. Buy flowers."
