Just finished watching Little Witch Academia. It's only a half hour OVA (for now) and it's very pretty.

So, it's been a while since we have talked about series, right?

Yahari ore no seishun love comedy wa machigatteiru : Aka "My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong as I Expected" , a critically acclaimed LN becomes anime yet again. As the title hints this is not a romantic comedy, but a satire to romantic comedies, in fact the core themes are more about human bonding & friendship and rotten dead fish eyes than love, in fact none of the main character seems to be "in love". Having skimmed through the first novel I was really looking forward to this, mainly for the sharpness of the dialogue, unfortunately the anime staff is really cutting the content short, butchering the rhythm of the story, furthermore like 40% of the cels of the episodes have been handled by people that can't draw, as a side effect they look hideous, sometimes I seriously think that this is an alternative universe where everyone is Rubber Soul.

Shingeki no Kyojin : translated as "Attack of the Titans" , the obvious must watch from this season.

Hataraku Maou-sama : Also known as "Devil at Work", it's about a Demon King from a mythical land who runs away from a crushing defeat in his homeland, and jumps to another world. He obviously ends up here and since might and magic doesn't rule anything outside table top games here, he pretty much gets forced to falsify an identity in the national registry and get a job to prevent himself from starving to death. The plot is naturally shallow with some usual hints of romance, the production seems ok so it might become that brainless thing that you see every week; personally I'm more interested in the character's jobs than in their actual situation (From "powerful" to "corporate soldier"? ) Since the LN is on-going, don't expect something too conclusive by the last episode.

Uchuu Senkan Yamato : Shouldn't need to phrase anything on this, ah? Saw the original in TV back in the 80s as well.

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S2 : This title is an "expansion" to Toaru Majutsu no Index, so it might throw you out of the loop if you know zip about it. The first season of the anime was one of the most horrible things that I have ever seen (and I have been around, mind you), they attempted to do something like a moeblob version of the A-Team, which was horrible. When I saw S1 I remembered something like "I haven't been so bored watching TV since I was looked up in a room in the mornings seeing bible stuff when I was a kid". However the manga of this has pretty much no relationship to the anime and is actually pretty kick ass, keeping the flavor that the original "Index" story has and they already said that season 2 is meant to cover the manga content. The thing is that; at the time, season 1 was one of the biggest blockbuster that the studio had (really?), and -according to the staff- thus even though they are going to adapt the most violent arc of the series (filled with splattered up corpses, inhuman experiments and some axcrazy batshit insane villains) they are still going to try to keep the "moeblob A-Team vibe", so I'm kinda on the fence for this one. Maybe half of the episodes will be great, while the other half we are better of acting as if they aren't there?

Photo Kano : In an obvious futile attempt of creating a money grabbing franchise, Sony has wasted huge amounts of money on trying to raise the popularity of their psp game and have been handling side projects such as manga and now this anime. I suspect that their secret plan is to rescue the Vita out of the morgue with the help of this title and some other projects. At first I thought that this was going to compare to Konami's Amagami (though Amagami was already being a pretty strong franchise by the time of its anime), but unlike Amagami this seems to be a pretty low budget project which is barely animated (even seeing the manga pages in succession has more animation than this), so I guess is better to evade this like the plague.

Finally watching JoJo.

Pacing in the first couple of eps is kind of screwy but it improves a lot after that. So far, so good.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR KEEPING THIS THREAD ALIVE :3

The Index spin offs? No thx. Although there is an intriguing buzz about S2.... hmmmm

Ah yes the titans thing looks good, saw the trailer a while back, might as well give it a go! Looks epic... but these are titans, how can they not be?

I saw one of the redrawn episodes of Jojo, hmmmm it's certainly nice, but I don't reallllllly have the time to watch them all over again.

(slightly offtopic but I'm looking forward to being a decrepit pensioner, I have tons of stuff to watch, none of that crap daytime TV for me)

Psycho Pass will draw inevitable comments due to its similarities with GITS, but that's ok, it's made by IG anyway, it's good.

For anyone who likes the romcoms : Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shurabasugiru is uhhhhhh hmmmm well I haven't dropped it yet. It's about a love triangle between a childhood friend and the most popular girl in school who's only pretending...

Zetsuen no Tempest is decent action with some emo kids and evangelion type mythos threatening to destroy the world without any big robots. Love the princesses's wet cloth.

I'm halfway through Gintama S2 but it's just uhhhh okay.... and fun, I guess.

Sorry if I repeated or mentioned something someone else recommended :3

Hi Moppi :3

On the second JoJo arc now, Sugita's Joseph is amazing.

Really well done anime adaptation. They worked well with a poor budget, made nice stylistic choices overall. Can't wait for more, a lot more.

I think my favorite thing about Jojo is the way everyone hams up their lines. It should be the cheesiest thing... heck maybe it is, but combine it with the fabulous posing and the ridiculous dubstep soundtrack and so much fun is had.

Recently, I checked out Binbougami, and finished reading 12 volumes of the manga and watching all of what's there of the anime, and I'm really hooked. I expected just generic slapstick fanservice comedy, but it surprised me by being a little more than that. Titty-ko is the best.

Though I gave Nichijou a chance a long time ago and passed on it after the first couple of episodes (because it wasn't entertaining me), I decided that since there's no Jojo's during the summer, I might as well give it a second chance. On the other hand, I doubt sincerely that I'll have a change of heart this next attempt.

Also, no Sailor Moon this summer, so I heard, which sucks, because I was really interested. However, I fear it might be too much like the manga which, in itself, was pretty flat. Not that the anime was spectacular, but like TMNT, the animated version is probably the most prevalent exposure people got to the series, and the original manga series doesn't have the same level of awesome that Jojo's has to be worth keeping it in its original form when animating. Sorry Takeuchi! I might like nostalgia, but I'm not that blind to the facts.

!!!!!!!!
Finally, indeed.

I have had nothing to watch this season except SnK and Genshiken Nidaime. It's weird watching Genshiken because I've completely forgot who/what the characters are. It helps that most of the characters are new, though.
