Hideous. Awful. Terrible. 3-0.

The first and third goals were pretty nice, and Brazil played kinda well in the last 5-10 minutes. But the bulk of the match was dominated by Ghana (they didn't get a better result cause their defense sucks and they are pretty bad finishers). I can't believe a midfield that has Ronaldinho, Kaka and Juninho can play in such a mediocre way.

very predictable... ghana had the power... and thats it, no defense, no definition.

GS: when you start defending Italy's win and England's ugly wins... and actually liking it, a good discussion is out of the question, so ill stop.

So any predictions for Spain France? God I wish Spain destroys France and make them stay away from the WC.

what? france not playing a shitty game?

this game is actually good... and the score is tied, Spain screwed up by always wanting to trap Henry offside... and got pwned by being too obvious.

Again, as much as I want Spain to win, I prefer a good game over the results... this game is great so far.

Yay!!! I was sooo hoping for a Brazil-France rematch... I mean, it could be awesome. Zidane had the best moment in his career in the 3-0 victory against Brazil in 1998. It would be pretty cool for the last game of his career to also be against Brazil.

I'd have liked Henry to score one, just to piss off the spanish coach for calling him with a racist slur.

I think I could say it was worth staying up late to watch the Spain/France match.

Looks like there's still hope for the French.

Oh Spain, will you ever rise up above mediocrity?

You're not Mexico, you know... *runs away*

I'm still firmly behind the French. Maybe a little bit more on Germany too now that we're down to 8...

To be honest? ANYONE but Brazil.

C'mon world! Let's topple them!! THEN we can turn our sights to Microsoft...

Ah, but you can't really say that. This is the first time ever that six former world champions are among the eight remaining teams. Every world cup there are a few surprises here and there (Bulgaria in '94, Croatia in '98, Korea and Turkey in 2002; from the top of my head, I'm sure there's more), and big name teams that fall before they're predicted to. The 2006 World Cup is kind of an exception, in fact (and there's also the fact that each of these 8 teams came from a different group, so there can be no repeated matches this time, unlike in most other recent World Cups).
