Oh well. Too bad for us.
However, I do feel happy that Korea had a best record as a foreigner team and did put up a good fight to the last.
Hey, I am also happy that France team is still alive.
I would've been a lot more sad if France vs Korea was Zidane's last game.
Well, better luck in 2010 South Africa World Cup. =P

Wow. What a game. Good to see Mexico decide today was a good time to bring out a good performance from their wildly inconsistent repertoire. And yet, good as they were, this really is the performance that convinces me that Argentina will win this thing. They've just got too many options and weapons on the bench, and it showed in extra time.
Having said that, if the ref had done the right thing and sent off Heinze then we're maybe talking about a completely different result here... On such small moments do world cup dreams crash...
But that piece of cowardice was nothing compared to what went on earlier in the day. The ref in the Germany-Sweden match produced the most gutless piece of reffing I've seen in a long time. The sending off of Lucic was utter, total bullshit. It was just a foul, and that's all the ref was gonna give, but then he immediately changes his mind when two Germans come up to him and ask for a red. Maybe he did it because of the crowd. Whatever, it was weakest decision I've seen this WC, and there have been loads.
England to win... 4-3 on penalties after 2-2 draw.

Oh lord, it look's like Sven's gonna play 4-5-1/4-1-4-1 with the following formation:
----------------Rooney
J. Cole - Lampard - Gerrard - Beckham
--------------- Carrick
A. Cole - Terry - Ferdinand - Hargreaves
Great thinking, let's take one of the only two players who played really well in the last game and solved England's defensive midfield problem (Hargreaves), and MAKE HIM CHANGE POSITION. Honestly, if Aaron Lennon had come on against Sweden and had a storming game, I reckon Sven would put him in as goalie rather then replace one of his beloved regulars.
Not that I think Beckham should be dropped. I think he's done well recently and has created most of our goals. Our media really is so short-sighted. One bad game and they want him out. -_-
Why the hell would you put a guy who'd never played for England in that position before there in the knock out stage of a WC? Apparently his best strength is his passing. Well, I'm sorry, but we've got four other guys in that midfield that can already hit killer passes. What we need out of a defensive midfielder is someone who can run for 90 minutes, break up opposition attacks and play simple passes to the more skilful players.
And how does information about the formation get out to the press? Shouldn't this kind of stuff be kep top secret?
I sometimes forget why it is I hate Eriksson so much, but then something usually jogs my memory. Usually just watching England be inept due to tactical stupidity, but sometimes it's something else, like reading excerpt from Robbie Fowler's autobiography that appeared in a Guardian article:
This seems a more energetic, dynamic Eriksson than the man Robbie Fowler coldly remembers from the half-time interval of the defeat by Brazil four years ago. "It was time for the manager to get to work, change the tactics and instil some belief," Fowler wrote in his autobiography. "He [Eriksson] said absolutely nothing, just stood there with a startled look on his face. We rolled over and died. There was no team spirit, no fight, no togetherness. And the manager didn't say a word."

I don't think you're giving enough credit to Mexico there. That was a good team Argentina were playing against tonight, and they came through pretty well. Could have swung either way, but that's what happens when two good teams play well against each other.Kyosuke Kagami wrote:Actually, if Argentina plays like they did against Mexico, they'll have their ass raped by GermanyAnd yet, good as they were, this really is the performance that convinces me that Argentina will win this thing.
I don't think Argentina played brilliantly, especially in the first half, but they adjusted and had the better of the second. Yes, they won on a spastically good goal, but they created other chances as well as that.
The match against Germany will be really interesting, but I've a suspicion that Germany's defense will finally be exposed as a bunch of fraudsters. Far from Germany assraping anyone, I believe it is they that will have their defenses at the back penetrated! :PPP
