I specifically mentioned that it is in regards to character FAQs.
Most FAQs that contain the movelist and the game mechanis of a game are pretty fine to me. It is what the individual character FAQs that I have misgivings about, especially when it is done by one person and on one character only. (biasedness and not a critical analysis imo)

Ok. for most of us, if we want a character FAQ of a FG, we go to GameFaqs, right? (If there is another alternative, please direct me to that place.)

While I am pretty satisfied with the general FAQs(I even d/led them too), the specific character FAQs just don't cut it. Most of them are frankly speaking at the basic level. You can only progress that much if you follow everything they said. Some are plain terrible pieces of work. I don't want to really list down names here but you people are free to visit the 2k3 section at GameFaqs for a browse.

Do note that it is not just the 2k3 section, what I said encompasses all KOFs, Capcoms, GGs, Rumble Fish, etc.

Now before anyone tried to denounce me as a hypocrite or some misguided fool who is an elitist, I shall admit here that I once did a 2k2 Yamazaki Faq at the old ON forums last year. I don't even think that it was of acceptable quality even though I used him for ages in 2k2.

Which brings me to what I had said about forum posts. There is no denying the excellent contributions BUT people are selfish and lazy. (not mutually exclusive btw.)

People do teach but not all that they know. Other times, they do have the urge to teach more but they are lazy to edit that one year old post.

And now on to nonsense. As everyone knows, never believe what the internet says 100%. So whatever you have seen/heard/read/downloaded, if you had personally tested them out or seen them take place IRL, well done to you, please keep them inside your head and use them if possible.

If it is to the contrary, either attempt to rectify and/or just filter out the rubbish from your train of thoughts.

INFORMATION FILTERING, GUYS! I can not stress this enough.

Way to go, Archedgar. You misread my post, understood half of what I meant and twisted it to suit your own intrepretation.

since 80% of character faqs are rubbish made by fanboys

Even in forums, people either don't teach everything or teach nonsense
How do you "misread" these statements? they seem pretty clear.

I can name quite a few 'very' useful FAQ's from gamefaq's, since 'positive' feedback is different than negative, may I direct you to this FAQ (Tessa/Tabasa written by Basel).

Personally, people on forums have taught me a lot, I, myself, don't claim to be flawless in what I teach, I can attempt to impart what knowledge I have adquired.

If people don't teach everything, perhaps its because 'no one' knows everything . Seriously.... I wouldn't be at all *disappointed* if a FAQ missed some detail, if someone included everything, it would likely be an ungodly long read...

The points you made(Empyrian) are flawed, I did not misread your post, you're just going back on what you said or attempting to evade the 'facts'.

He's my favorite male CV character! All the females pwn him for free though.

If people want to learn special moves and the basics to the system, FAQs are good. If they want more than that, then FAQs are useless, unless someone can prove me wrong and show me an in-depth FAQ. I'm talking about KOF btw.

Persona: What about the 2k2 Mai thread you made at the old ON? Is it in-depth or is it not? XD

It reads more as a shortcut to success. Kinda like what you said about 2k3 K`.
Although you did not break down all the moves, you have already expressed the gist of the character in question.

I suppose the people who used the characters while following your guide should be able to gather more information on their own as they played more.

I feel I can teacha fighting game because I love to teach. No one knows everything but people can teach you what they know. My whole philosophy is that Inexposure can kill you, so you want to see and learn from as many people as possible.
