How do you select the Start button color in XI PS2?

This is driving me friggin insane. The E button colors are there, just hold E (default is R1) and press a button. However, it seems for some strange reason I can't friggin pick the Start button colors for my characters. I hold onto the PS2 Start button - this same button lets you initiate random select, just like the arcade - and pick a button for the color, but the game acts as though I wasn't holding the Start button in the first place.

I tried changing one of my L buttons for Provocation, but that just acts like an A button when selecting characters.

Anyone know how to pick the Start button colors?

I don't own this version.. but have you tried holding the select button? or just holding the 4 shoulder buttons or what have you?

I believe it's with holding L2 and press any button.

Everybody has 12 Colors, right??

Default Colors are default PS2 action buttons. To select the next 2 set of four colors hold down L1 or R1 and press a default action button which adds up to 4+4+4 = 12.

L2 and R2 are color edit mode templates like in NGBC-PS2.

Yeah, everyone has 12 colors.

And yeah, you're right - it was L1 - I tried Select and Start, never thought to use L1.

Yeah, my bad, I meant L1 and not L2.

So everyone has 12 colors plus 2 you can edit.
