You are kidding, obviously, but for those who haven't noticed, unlike in the arcade (where she was censored because it's considered secual content), Athena's jumping animation shows her THONG.

Sad part is you can COLOR IT (it's the same color as the darkest shade of her skirt's color)

So if you want a panty-less Athena you COULD just color her skirt the same as her skin... not sure if you WANT to but it could be done...

i agree with the tweaks introduced in neowave and as i said before the 3 grooves balances charas that were not used at all in 2k2
goro for example crap in 2k2 is a beast in nw in max2 mode

but, gameplay wise you can't say that 2k2 sucks..it has one of the most balanced gameplay and the deepest combo system (maybe striker engine can be better but i think that it's so unbalanced) plus the roster is great and excluding some matchups against god tiers everyone can be effective (maybe not kyo but there is kusanagi in)

Can't believe I'm responding to this, but I don't want people making random posts off misinformation. What do you mean? If you're talking about XI PS2, she's just wearing her old 98-style kinda black sweatpants kinda shorts. They seem kinda like Yuri's tights, only they're knee length instead. Am I missing something here? Pretty normal if you don't want to be giving people pantsu shots left and right... though in MI2 on the other hand (no pun intended).

Can't believe I'm responding to this either, but from the description (I haven't loaded up XI to see this), I think they're known as 安全パンツ, or, literally translated, safety panties. Unfortunately (and I can't believe this either), but both Google and Wikipedia have failed at turning up an image of these safety panties so you guys could see if they are what I'm thinking about.

If I'm right about this, they're worn basically as Iie-Kyo describes, to prevent panty-shots. Considering Japan is the land where up-skirt shots were probably invented, it's not altogether surprising that even the police recommend girls to wear it..

I just booted up the game, and yes it seems she does have some sort of hot pant on but it DEFINITELY looks like a thong on my custom color Athena (as well as any other one, but my custom Athena is darker skinned)...

I don't know, in her stand pose it looks like a shadow... it seems to me like SNKP desperately needed to cover the thong up so they wouldn't be censored, but damn it, it looks like a friggin' thong!

[edit: OK I figured out why. Try changing Athena's lightest hair color to the second darkest skin color and JUMP. Yeah, that's why. Still, it looks like a mesh of sorts, like a pantyhose with a thong underneath...]

Dont' worry, we are discussing the subtleties that make this game the best KOF yet...

Case in point:
Panties: those who show them (Athena) and those who don't wear them (Malin, Jenet)

But seriously, all I wanted to know is if someone else agrees with me that Athena's hot pants kind of look like a shadow of her skirt and that she looked like she was wearing a thong. But seriously that was it. We're not starting a conversation about her sex life or anything, chill. We're not saying anything about any sort of perverted japanese illustrations involving Athena, Kensou and Momoko, no sir. Just panties. Believe me, it could be worse.

Before going back on topic I just wanted to mention that 2k2 was much more revealing. Mai showed her butt during her HSDM, Angel was, well, wearing a friggin' body thong and Athena was in her swimsuit during her SDM. OK no more sexual references in this post.

Back on topic, uh yes this is probably one of the best KOF yet.

Im pretty sure Jenet wears pantsu....at least in MI2 she does (she seriously needs a friggin bra as well)...and Athena's 'hotpants' is actually part of her 'costume' design for XI, if you go to the Gallery you can see them in her character sketch.

Doesn't Malin wear those black tights as well ?_?

And uh yes, XI is the most fun I've had in KOF since...I started KOF @_@

Next up : Is Gai really THAT well endowed, or is he just fooling us by wearing an extra large cup?

In the mook's art, Gai does seem to have an unusually disproportioned groin.

Now, what's up with the whole "Oooh, onii-sama, sugoi, you're the best!" thing Rose has with Adelheid? I mean, blame my Japanese-tainted mind, but when I was over there, I saw more incest anime porn than I would've ever wanted to read.

Anyways, my reasons for liking XI more are that:
-action is more fast-paced
-skill stocks prevent abusing SC and things like that
-the roster is nice
-panstu

Speaking of panstu, Jenet only wears one in MI2 because it doesn't come to arcades. In Japan, if a thong is shown, it's considered sexual content (whereas going commando isn't!?), so Jenet and Malin are actually going commando. With the short skirt Malin has, I'm not sure about that. She could be wearing regular underwear. But Jenet doesn't (in Garou or XI).
