KOF sessions at The Heart of Gaming

Postby fire-bug » Wed Feb 01, 2012 13:49

Hello everyone!

You may or may not have heard, but I have a little project going on at the moment....

https://www.facebook.com/TheHeartOfGaming

In short, I have aquired all the joystick and button stuff from the closure of Funland, and am slowly working towards building an arcade/ gamernet cafe (I think that summarises it), and have been testing the waters of support by holding Saturday sessions at the place, mainly on KOF13. I orginally only bought the machines to do up and sell on, but when youre surrounded by arcade machines, you cant help but feel that maybe it deserves one last shot....

Ive been speaking to Gunsmith a bit lately (or HOOD RAT as I call him), who has been giving me some feedback from people here, for which I am grateful, and here to address.

For the people who feel that the sessions were a) kept under wraps or b) old skool or neo empire people only, I apologise. You see, I really didn't think it would be gathering the momentum that it has been. At first, it was just myself and Bullet Proof from Neo Empire just gauging interest from the people we know and were able to reach out to in person. It was NEVER the intention to create some sort of elitist club managed through politics. Politics SUCK, and the theme of this place is that its being built by players FOR players. Here, you have a voice and I welcome your input. KOF hasn't been big in this country properly since 98, so to see it getting love now is indeed a good thing. Im all about people just playing games and having fun, I mean, this is what its about, right?

In short, Im here to say that any and all of you are welcome here, and I hope to keep meeting new faces as I have been this last month.

If you have any questions, post them and I'll do my best to answer asap. There is so much I've probably left out, so fire away!

Hope to see you all soon ;)

Regards, Mark

Hey Hood rat, howz tings?

OK, at themoment I have the traditonal KOF's- 94, 95, 96, 97, 98 and 2k2. The inbetweeners like 99, 2k, 2k1 and 2k3 I have not bothered with thusfar, and in turn, have not been asked for. I have full intentions of purchasing 98um and 2k2um on arcade, they will also be supported on console. Needless to say, 12 and 13 are also here on console. We talked before of purchasing 13 on arcade, and we also talked of how it would be a waste of time and money as everyone now plays the console versions. On the subject of console versions, both ps3 and 360 are supported, but will most likely be top-heavy on the 360 version.

Sessions are pretty much 24/7, albeit with a few stipulations.

DAYTIME SUN-FRI
People can come anytime from midday onwards, and the day session will typically run till 10pm, though I will be off home at 6pm if the place is empty (its still early days), though a few people have been turning up during the week now. The best thing for people to do at this early stage is to organise sessions, it will work out cheaper.

NIGHTS SUN- FRI
These are all night sessions and are only doable by appointment in advance. They run from 10pm till 8am. Again, larger parties will qualify for a discount.

SATURDAYS
The most popular day, just turn up. An all nighter leading into sunday is pretty much guaranteed.

It has to be worth my time being there. In the long run, appointments wont be necessary as the place will continue to grow as it has been since it premiered with the all nighter new years eve just gone.

THERE ARE THINGS HAPPENING EVERY WEEKEND! We have the top KOF players in the country down here, who are happy to share info and educate others. If your serious about learning KOF (or even if you just want casuals), nowhere else comes close!
