After you get into it that is what the game mostly is. Grinding for gear or grinding for skills. Its kind of like a Castlevania version of a PSO or Monster Hunter.

Well, the game is certainly built around a certain mmo mentality, but i don't think grinding is strictly necessary to enjoy the game. Learning enemy patterns is still far more important, and I find level runs pretty fun, so the item grinding just happens along the way. Admittedly I did grind a bit skills yesterday with P and that's pretty eh, I'm against grinding in general but in recent Castlevanias I always end having a lot of stuff/skills. You can however level up by playing normally as well, I had my skills at level 6 after about 6 hours of regular gaming and the max is 9. The later levels are super slow to get but the damage increase is pretty relative, I think it's the same for every level.

You only grind subs to increase your ATK afaik. Your other stats (and ATK too) come from equipment. It's still a "grind" though for good gear but this is just the way the game works (keep playing chapters until you either find better stuff or get bored). If you're really good, you can get far without the need to grind because even with a maxed out character, hard mode is still going to rape you if you're not careful.

It's alot like PSO tbh.

Yeah, getting from 8 to 9 takes longer than getting 1 to 8, but since 1 to 8 is relatively quick you can get most characters from weak to strong in not much time just by getting all the skills 8.

Decided to start Soma as an alt just because that's pretty much the only way to compete on the leaderboards. They should've had seperate leaderboards based on characters, a flaw that they've had since Portrait of Ruin.

man the existance of sonic boots is pretty upsetting. Just give a good enjoyable base speed or make them easier to get.

edit: Didn't realize mercury and winged boots are much easier drops and they give a good boost already. Not upset any more!

Funcharted 3 has become a little hardcore. Most of the time I run into games where it is a full team of mic'd up maxed out level folks with seemingly godlike aim with the FAL-SS against well...me and four other people. Decimation is imminent for the team I'm on.

Before I got the Fortune Hunter's Club deal, skill levels were pretty damn even. Now, I think all the hardcores are the ones with the new map pack and it is endless Fort FAL-SS parties that I get turned into the drunk slut at. Also, I've noted a LOT of people leaving mid game if they're losing. "If you're down by 6, you must quit" is what the late Cochran would say*. I just invested more money into the game and not having the funs. Sadness. And a side note, I believe the Xbox Live kiddies have permeated PSN. So many foul mouthed brats on there now (or at least UC3). Maybe MW3 was so wack, they're trying anything.

I downloaded the map pack but haven't played. I didn't relish having fort on the rotation again even though I used to be so proficient at it.

I'm up for some co-op whenever, just send a message on PS3, and as long as I'm not watching Jdramas I'll probably respond and play.

Though thanks to the US law enforcement, it's become a lot harder to watch them.

THey're pretty friggin hard to finish. I've probably played half of my second and third legacies hunting for those sets.

Been playing CV with Fuu about 3-4 hours every night and I almost have Yoko and Richter maxed and Soma is on his way there as well.
