How far are you in DQ9? I tried SOOOOOO hard to play it but I finally gave up about 70% through the story (maybe it's also because I use only one character through the whole game). I found 8 much more fun.

And I saw Shiny playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow earlier. Wonder if it was a demo or not. *xx

Been playing Dead Rising 2 (Apathy Wind would know) and the game is full of frustration. At the beginning I really disliked the game, then way in the end I start to enjoy it and then it's back to pure frustration with all the grinding. Aw should help me with all the TiR shit. :D

I have Castlevania as well - I just don't have the time to play it

P: DR2 is certainly provides a variety of emotions. I fucking hated it initially, then loved it, then dreaded/feared it for certain trophies. Have you done the 72K kills yet? That requires some dedication and planning - my friend messed up and just missed 72K, only to have to do it all over again. For me the worst trophy was win all nine TiR events - specifically because of Master Shafter (it never comes up and I suck at it). I don't know if I can help you get those trophies as the wins only count in ranked matches (which are generally random in who you're put up against). Which games do you still need wins on?

I just finished the 72k trophy a day ago and it was totally boring. At first I used the SUV but later used the Slicycle (Bike + Chainsaw). Fuck Capcom and their weird trophies, I got bored of it by about 15k. When I was reading a 72k guide, it only mentioned until the military arriving so I thought you had to complete it before the gas zombies came so I did the 1k gas zombies before even attempting 72k. If I knew you could still do the 72k when gas zombies were around, it would've saved alot of my time considering it would just add up with the 72k. I finally got the 72k at the beginning of Overtime.

Trophies I have left are all melee, all explosives (I cannot find the Gasoline Canister), all clothing, spend 6m (easy one), co-op and TiR. TiR for me seems hard, I only won one single event. Also I understand it just like you that it's ranked only but for some reason people on Gamefaqs keep looking for boost companions so maybe there is some way to boost it.

I'm kind of thinking of doing the all melee and all clothing in a co-op game, I just need someone to play with me and do whatever they want until the game ends.

Saddest thing is that most (if not all) of these hard trophies are only a bronze...

P.S. And I thought Fat Princess trophies were hell enough...

You guys actually try and get optional trophies/achievements? I usually can't be bothered, lol.

@SS: P is a self-admitted trophy whore. I'm more of a 'oh sh*t I got a trophy..what did I do?' kind of cat. Only game I ever 100%'d was Pinball Hall of Fame, and that was because I saw I only needed one more and it was easysauce.

Well trophies are a grind and as most people can agree on, trivial things. I just try to balance things out as in I'll only play games I want to play and get trophies for those games, not go overboard like go out and buy every game that can get easy trophies. Also, by the time I get every single trophy for a game, I've pretty much done everything in the game and got my money's worth.

Dead Rising 2 is a good example. 90% of the game is optional so if you don't care to do everything, all you need to do is beat the game, which is about only 5 must-do things which is pretty much less than an hour and a few hours of idling waiting for the time to come to achieve the must-do missions. You don't even have to kill a single zombie in the game. With all the trophies, you pretty much do everything such as rescue all survivors, try every weapon (this is interesting) on every zombie and see the amusing results, etc. Without trophies, I wouldn't even have bothered to combine all weapons but after combining them all and trying them on zombies, I felt that i almost missed out on all the amusing deaths.

My advice on games such as Dead Rising 2 is that if the player doesn't plan on getting trophies for that game, they shouldn't buy the game simply because they're missing out on about 90% of the content.

But um, yeah, I don't mind trophies, it actually pushes me to see what I'm missing/too lazy to do in some games. The trophies I seriously hate are ones that require nothing but simple grind. AFAIK, Capcom games seem to have alot of this. Games like God of War make trophies fun to obtain considering you can get all of them without having to grind and in one playthrough.

Point is, they should make trophies fun, not a whorehouse of grind and timewasting. I consider myself a trophy whore but I don't think I deserve the title considering I have less than 300 trophies and only 10 games on my list. *sweatdrop

I find trophies to be a freakish obsession in some games (i.e. DR2, Demons Souls, Borderlands) and yet I couldn't care less in others (any fighting game, UC2 surprisingly). The disparity is kind of weird. I personally like the TF2 steam achievements the best - I like when I unlock one but never feel the need to try for any of them. It's a nice little reward without any compulsion.

P: I saw the boosting thing on Gamefaqs too but I'm not sure how it works. I played a ranked match with a friend once but he is local so I don't know if the matchmaking is regional or what. We could try it someday if I'm available - I could help you on some events (i.e. jobbing to you on Master Shafter, blowing up rival hats on Headache, combo breaking on Stand-up Zombedy) but others are largely unboostable without four 'on board' players (stuff like Pounds of Flesh or Bounty Hunter).

You're looking for a gas canister? As in the little red boxy thing with a spout?? If so I believe there's one at the circular bar in the middle of the Americana Casino. Man I played too much DR2 if I still remember item locations...

Yeah the red thing, I tried throwing all explosives and it didn't get me the trophy. I guess I have to find a gun and shoot it. And for online, sure, whenever you're free, since I think the online ones are going to take the longest but I also want to get rid of this game soon (I usually keep trading in games one by one after I get everything I want in the game) because I don't want to get stuck with this game any longer.

I think the event I won in is Bounty Hunter. Don't know why but I always seem to win in that yet always lose in the others.

Also wanted to add about trophies and balance is that if you like getting trophies but don't play alot of games or you play alot of games but don't care for trophies, it's still okay in my opinion. The thing that starts to go overboard into obsession is if you play alot of games AND must get every trophy as well.

EDIT: Oh and I forgot to ask for a long time but me and Oro would like to play some 4 player games again, if anyone is interested (Shiny, SS, AW, etc). What game, well I guess that's for all of us to decide.

Well the only thing I play in a multiplayer fashion with any regularity on my consoles is BlazBlue CS, which is probably out of the question for you two, lol

Uhhh Portal 2 when it comes out in April? It has PS3-PC cross-platform co-op!

Well, I can only think of small games like PSN games, in case if someone bails, at least we didn't spend that much money lol. Something simple really, maybe some board/card game, if you guys are chill with that. I wasn't entirely amused at the fact that most people bailed on Castle Crashers and only left me, AW and Oro to play and the only reason we pretty much still played was because we all had the same goal in mind, to just get the leftover trophies. Other than that, I think we all would've quit instantly and consider the game a waste of money and time.

But ontopic,

Playing Little Big(gie) Planet again so I can get ready for 2 when I purchase that.

Finally platinumed Dead Rising 2 and it's actually the first game ever in my life where I actually felt like throwing it out the window from the 10th floor due to all the frustration in the game. Although I would say that if you don't plan on getting trophies/achievements for the game, it's not worth the purchase because 90% of the content is optional so it's like Capcom saying, "You want the greatest experience in the game? Well, bust your ass off getting all the trophies/achievements hah!".

So it's either you go for broke or you're better off not purchasing the game. Pretty good experience but I'd never touch the game again. Also if you're the type of person who isn't organized in life and would like to learn some time management, I guess the game could help a bit considering this game needs a lot of planning and organizing lol.

The easiest way for me to summarize the game is that it's an educational game with violence as the icing on top. Does that even make sense?
