Toki will purify your soul hitting you :o (Hokuto no Ken)

Postby Kyosuke Kagami » Thu Mar 08, 2007 04:39

Considering that this game's port will be released during this month (when? no idea), it'd be a good idea to discuss what we've seen so far in Youtube, Henvoke and other sites, about this game.

First, I need to ask:

-What are the conditions to execute Fatal KO?
-Are Shin and Toki still considered top tiers?
-What's the function of those multicolor bars?

Stay tuned :o

Your opponent's seven star gauge (beneath the lifebar) needs to be empty.

And how do you do that? Making combos?

And from what I can see, Toki depletes the star gauge with no problems. Seeing him execute Hokuto Ujo Hagan Ken in ROUND 1 = LOL

BTW, is it me or the OTG properties are... too strange?

It is the boost gauge, it is like the bastard son of KoF 2002 BC mode. It is activated with the E button and gives you a fucking fast forward momentum while it depletes until the next level. You can cancel moves recovery with this, and even gives some moves more range (like Shin's command grab) or a mean to escape from punishement (like, Shin whiffed his Nanto Gokutoken, he can escape retaliation with the boost)

Kyosuke Kagami wrote:And how do you do that?

CD ground attacks does that, some special moves (Kenshiro's dragon punch prototype, Raoh's ground foot stab, about all supers, etc....) does that, some other normal and command attacks takes stars on COUNTER hit.
On average, a combo shall take 3 stars.
I think some characters can go over this limit.

Shin is definately not top tier. Rei is higher than him, while Kenshiro is on about the same level as Shin.
One candidate for the higher tiers is Yuda. Toki is just... Toki.

Though I am currently seeing a lot of Toki players being beaten a lot, even with his divine breakness... by Raoh players o_o

Because unlike KoF 2003, where the rest of the cast is (almost?) helpless against Duo Lon, people have found ways around Toki. Not easy, but they are here.

Oh. Now I see why I also saw a Souther player beating Toki, too.

Is it me, or Rei and Souther are mid-air based chars?

Rei, yes.

Souther, otoh, just happen to have a much better X-Caliber move than Leona's and it is a good tool in high-low abuse game.

Dear Sheba:

Why don't people like to use Jagi, Mamiya and Heart?

I saw some matches from youtube, featuring the first 2 characters. Jagi is... weird, and Mamiya is weirder. No love for Heart, though (in the series AND the game :o).
