I actually went off and did some grinding with Tard for some of my Pyro weapons (the Flare gun and Backburner). The Backburner is awesome but now my stats page is a joke. 40 kills in one life as Pyro, lol.

I'll be earning my Axetinguisher the old fashioned way. At least, once the pyromania in the servers has died off. In the meantime I'm playing some of the other classes I've been neglecting (Heavy, Engineer, Sniper, Demoman).

the recent update rationalize a bit the requirements to get the medic weapons(10, 16 and 22 achievements). Infact i have 2 of them now, which is a surprise since i never actually tried getting achievements. I guess in the long run most are doable!

And yes while i don't care much for achievements i think stats are nice, it's better to have them clean!

Yeah, it was good timing for the Medic unlock requirements being lowered as I started playing Medic more toward the end of last week and managed to get that useful Blutsauger. Then I was able to get some more achivements for the Kritzkrieg earlier today. 100% Criticals for 10 sec. would be useful in certain situations, but it's nothing I would replace the Medigun's invincibility ÜberCharge with in most cases. I can't wait to get that Übersaw.

As for the Pyro, I only need to put in a little more time for the achievements needed for the Backburner, which I'll probably end up using more than the vanilla Flamethrower. I won't miss the Compressed Air too much.

Hints in the .gcf files suggest the next set of unlocks are for the Heavy and the Sniper:

So they're releasing them for a class and its counter-class at the same time? That might be a good way to avoid class spam, I guess.

The pyromania seems to have died down in the meantime, and I'm finding that my kill rate with the Pyro has gone way up. <3 my Backburner.

They've also given some of the criteria they've been considering while designing the Heavy unlocks. Pretty interesting stuff.

That was a good read. It's interesting seeing a developer go into such detail regarding one specific area of their game and making that info public.

If anything could get me into game development, it's the work and thought involved in solving various problems in the games themselves.

So I killed someone with the Pyro's Hadouken earlier today (twice, even!). That's great and all, except that the OMGWTFBBQ achievement for it didn't register. Has anyone else run into a similar issue with this or any other achievements?

I've run into that problem with Portal achievements, but never with TF2. Hm.

It's weird but I haven't been playing TF2 unless it's weekends. Guess I'm getting old.

For the hadouken thing I did by sneaking up to a medic right after their uber and hadoukened him right afterwards. I got the achievement.

Did you get any other achievements in that server? There's chances that it's probably...
1. The server doesn't have that Valve protection thing on and or enabled sv_cheat (allowing noclips etc), achievements would be disabled.
2. You did the kill after the game is done and is in the bonus round. I don't see that it's done during the bonus round, though.
3. Somehow the Steam client is 'disconnected' and thus achievements are disabled.
4. IT'S A BUG

I noticed that any other credit for achievements that I should've gotten weren't counted. It was probably the server and/or the Steam client issues I was having that day. Oh well, I'll just try it somewhere else.

Anyway, some TF2 community questions were answered. Aside from saying they're having fun with Meet the Pyro (not that it's coming up next), there's a bit regarding that changes may be coming for the Demoman.

Q. Some people are saying that the stickies for the demo are to strong. To the point where 3 stickies can remove a sentry, a dispenser and a full health Engie. Is this something that can/is being addressed or is it classed internally as “balanced”?

We agree that they’re a little too overpowered right now. In fact, internall, we refer to them as “winbombs”. We haven’t reached a decision on what we’ll change yet, though.


Demoman's stickies are quite strong. I hope they're only nerfed and not castrated for whatever tweaks are made, because I really like using those. Abusively, almost.
