What game(s) are you playing?

Postby Bugle/Hawk'M » Fri Feb 09, 2007 05:15

I think we could deal with a nice simple thread. So, what have you been playing lately?

In order of most played, sort of.

Mega Man Zero 4: After playing through ZX for the second and third time I wanted more. So I've been going through the entire Zero series. The games are hard, but not in an unfair way, so I've enjoyed them quite a lot. Just got this last one and then I can say I beat them all with an A rank.

Dead Rising: A fun game, but also kind of hard. I plan on leveling up a lot, then braving the story. The game just is so much cooler once you get all the melee skills in all thier ridiculous glory.

Final Fantasy III: The DS remake of course. I'm a bitch for the job system. It's pretty fun, but I feel like I'm missing a lot because I don't have a thief. I'm going around doing side quests before I brave the last few dungeons of the game.

Wii Sports: Bowling in particular. It's a lot of fun.

Phantasy Star Universe: I honestly don't play it much. I probably should since I'm still paying monthly, but with this semester is leaving me with only 1 day off a week. Oh well, I'm not too worried about it. I'll play more when I'm not so tied up in other games.

Gears of War: I got the game pretty much only to play co-op with my brother online, which is fun, but we hardly make the time to play. 60 bucks is quite a bit ot pay just for that, but my friends enjoy playing the death match, and it's an alright game, so whatever.

Children of Mana: The game is pretty cool, but I don't understand why so many games are going to the weird level based world map thing. I prefer the large Zelda style map you can actually move around in freely, the level select game map seems so lazy. The swordfighting is somewhat good though. i'd expect the series to have evolved more by now though.

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops: I don't know why I'm not playing it much. I mean, i liked what I played. I guess I'm just not in a Metal Gear mood.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Double Upper, Guilty Gear Judgement, and Power Stone Collection: They run fing but controls are just hard to handle on the PSP. Power Stone is obviously the best control of the 3. For the other 2, the analog is better for sensitivity (and is the only thing I can do dragon punch motions with) but it just feels wrong and I can't get used to it. The D-pad just sucks, plain and simple, so I'm sort of lost as to how to play. This is the reason I'm not running to get the MVS emulator.

There are other games I should get to playing, but it'll never happen.

In other news, my mom was using my DS for a while, but recently got her own Lite. She plays Meteos, Monkey Ball, and Cooking Mama, which is strange. Also, she likes the Wii and I think i can convince her to get some games for it.

My schedule doesn't leave me much time for gaming, but when I do have time, this is what I've been playing:

Elite Beat Agents
I WILL NOT REST UNTIL I HAVE S-RANKED JUMPIN' JACK FLASH ON SWEATIN'
*cough* So yeah, I've been playing this a lot. Got a fair number of S-ranks on the third difficulty level, and am going for more, of course. Really fun. I suppose it helps that I have a good sense of rhythm, heh.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All
I actually finished this a while ago, but I'm replaying the last case again because it's just that awesome.

Okami
Still haven't finished it...I'm backtracking at the moment to collect optional quest items and stuff so I can unlock more stuff once I've finished the game.

King of Fighters XI (PS2)
Well, yeah. Mainly practising execution and the like, although skills on a Dual Shock 2 don't really translate well to the arcade. I need an arcade stick -_-
Also trying to finish the pesky 4 missions that I have left in Challenge Mode.

Also, I've been watching my roommate play FFXII and deciding that maybe I should put it off in favour of other RPGs like Valkyrie Profile 2, Rogue Galaxy and the Shadow Hearts series.

Jump Ultimate Stars, been playing 2 months with Fuu, P and Tard.

Also recently Sangokushi Taisen DS. It's great fun!

And practicing KOF 98 too. Fooling around with stuff in KOF is always good fun.

Hmm, ditto what SS said about the schedule, yet I do try to play some stuff, namely:

* Suikoden Tactics - Part of my rampage to play all Suikoden games... it's going slowly...

* Okami - Same as SS... I'm really enjoying just running around the field cleansing the land :p

* KOF XI - Just to stay in form, agree with what Pen said here.

* Rogue Galaxy - Recently got it, trying it out, liking it so far.

Versus Only - Games I play only with mates, when we all get the chance to get together.

* Guilty Gear Slash

* Melty Blood Act Cadenza

Since we didn't specify what kind of games these were, I'm also running and participating in various D&D session on weekends. :p

Im a shadow of the gamer i used to be.. its pathetic

Games i played recently

-RE4: if you play this after 1 year, its just as awesome as the 1st time you went thru it. ATRAS DE TI IMBECIL!!!!

-Mario Kart 64, DS Its a freaking pain to juggle between the 2, the Ds's precise contol versus de more forgiving/fun 64 controls

-Megaman X. - I never got to play the Zero games past the 1st, shame on me. Ill get ZX eventually.

-KoF 96, because its just a freaking orgasm to remember the golden age, back when SNK was daring enough to change gameplay.

I havent played any recent games in a while, im poor like that i guess...

RE4 is awesome if you play it on a Gamecube. The PS2 version is absolute and total crap in comparison :3

Okay, finished with Zero 4. That was a good use of my day off. Now I can move onto the rest of my list. Also, realized Portrait of Ruin isn't on my list. I've gotten a 100% normal record, but I still need to do some new game+/hard mode stuff, finish the map in Sisters mode (damn you abyss and your overly strong stuff compared to my level), go through Richiter mode, and go through Axe Armor mode.

Saint's Row: Frankly, I more or less detest the GTA series. My reason for picking up this game was related to work. That said, I think it's way better than GTA in every aspect. The radio isn't nearly as stupid, the missions are more creative, the driving is better integrated, and the animation doesn't look anywhere near as ugly as GTA's. And most importantly, you can swim.

Phantom Brave: I bought this weeks ago but I only just finally started on it. It's an annoying battle engine but maybe I'll get used to it eventually. I just wish I didn't have to keep backtracking to level up, because it's such a cute story.

Dino Crisis 3: LOL, I might have to explain this one. A year ago I binged a buttload of Xbox games from a bargain bin, and this was one of them. I figured why not, since I've played the first two DC games. However I had to quit this game because it's a huge pain in the ass. Terrible camera, dinos that kill you in no more than 2 hits, and very few save points for a long stretch of the game. Really annoying. As I found out when I went back though, once you get past those first few hours you get better weapons and more save points, while the dinos don't get any harder. So, I was finally able to complete it and put it away for good. Yeah, screw the bonuses.

-Steambot Chronicles

i'm playing through this 'relaxing, nonlinear adventure', and it is really any kind of awesome.
You go around in your trotmobile(which is kind of a mix between a car and a mech), which you control like a katamari, the main story is nice and charming, and there is an insane amount of sidequests and minigames. You can fight in the arena, play instruments, explore dungeons, buy and sell stocks, commerce between cities, play billiards, etc...
Think of it as non-violent '30ish sci-fi light gta!
