PS3 or XBOX 360 for on-line play?

I want to pickup a PS3 this week along with this game. I'm not interested in off-line play. Is the PS3 the safest bet for finding other players? Is the on-line dead at this point due to lag and a bad match making system? If I want to play on-line would I need to make a lobby and wait for hours to find an opponent?

I'm on the East Coast USA.

I have both PS3 and 360.

For USA players, AFAI can tell, I'd say go with 360.

Strangely, all my friends from this board and Asia have PS3s. But I've met lots of Americans on the 360.
