UK roll call + Kill the arcade? (UK only please)

Postby Gunsmith » Sat Jun 11, 2011 16:59

Two things:
1. UK KOF fan roll call - just post something to show Atlus where you are in the UK and that you're interested in buying KOF XIII. You don't have to be just a KOF fan, you can like other games too.

2. Certain community members were about to bear the cost of buying KOF XIII and then put it in either Funland or Casino.

However, the console release made us reconsider.

What would be the point? We would probably never get our money back, but it's even worse when you consider there's a majority of people who are too busy to go an arcade and just want to play at home. Even if the netcode isn't good enough, we have events like Unlimited Face/off, Orochi Dojo and Ultimate Clash where people can play on console, so why travel and pay for every match at an arcade?

The only pro I can think of is that it's more convenient (for the event organiser) and no worries about cables and stuff - only crappy sticks and those can be fixed by us ourselves!

So.... should we still buy the arcade or just wait for the console release? Btw there's no guarantee at all that Europe will get XIII on Oct 25th...

just buy a US PS3 copy of the game, this is what I will do if no EU release is planed.
Or we could check with Eu game editors like Zen United to pick up the game for EU market.
The reason SNK games arent selling in europe is because the netcode is crap(it doesnt matter for me but you know about "dem casual players")
and the marketing campaign is so bad that a secondary school pupil would do better.

I will be importing XIII but will definitely pick up a UK copy if it gets a release to show support. Done it for several games including KOF XI and NGBC.

As for the arcade question; I live in Scotland. Outside of the odd pub with a busted Sega Rally machine ( which are rare as feck to find ) we have no arcade scene. There's a few of us who still play 02UM, with a release for XIII we could probably get something better going.

As much as I would like to see the arcade ASAP in the Casino, I agree that since the console release is nearby this year it would be better just to import the game & go from there.

If for some reason the cabinet goes down in price when the console version is released, then we could see if we can get during our spare time or something.

Seconded what zero said, since the game is so close on console wait for a decent price drop or use the money to fund UC events. If you do get it, best place to put it is in Troc (imo) because you'll get lots of foreign students and general casual foot traffic that doesn't happen in casino.

Also since it so close to console eveyone has time to practice bare and they won't shun the arcade version because they don't want to spend cash travelling to learn something. Plus ppl with big heads want to make sure they're good at it before losing to someone who will go on like they're bad and never play it again and duck bare events heh.

I would definitely be interested in a console release KoFXIII in the UK, as would others I know that are fans of the series.

In the worst case I would import, but if it only got a US release I can see there being some pretty bad online lag, since fewer European/UK players would get it as a result. That said, even if online is terrible, I would still buy it for offline play.

I'd be interested in playing the game in both arcade and console.

Like eveyone else said I'd have no problem importing the game but for the sake of kof becoming popular commercially a official UK release would be highly beneficial (no limited print run bollocks either)

It would be so nice to play kof xiii on the versus city cabs.

Both EU and UK arcade release is important. Though the least we can ask for is for an EU console release.

KoF XIII is awesome!
We need it in UK!

I think that for the game to really work we need t increase the KoF audience and only the console release could do this initially.
But then they would need a place to meet up, get challenged and share combos... not just alone home behind their TV...

WE WANT KoF XIII in UK! Quick Quick Quick!

I'd preorder the game day one if there's ever going to be an UK release.
I'll just import either way, but I'd rather not have to skip on DLC.

I don't have a PS3 or 360 but I would purchase one for this game. I do however believe that getting the arcade board could be a double edged sword. I'm sure you (GS) know better than the rest of us if the game is getting any sort of update on the console version, so if there are new players that come along and play console and want to meet and play in the arcade and realise it's an old version with silly stuff still there and/or characters missing then they are less likely to come along. Basically if the console and arcade versions are the same (either direct port or both updated) then get the arcade board, but only if it's reasonably priced.

Arcade if people are gathering for the long run.

If not then console i ain't to bothered about the outcome so longs it's out.

But the ps3 has an advantage over the 360 if it came out depends on who finalises the publishing.

KOF XIII looks like so much fun and I have been wanting to play it since I first saw a video up on youtube, it would be a day one purchase for me and I would probably buy two copies one for xbox 360 and one for ps3.
I live in London and as far as I know we don't have it in the arcades here so I am starved for this game hopefully Atlus will cure this :D
