I think it was really good. Not a classic, but still very enjoyable. It's a lot like LOTR in that there's a slow start, then heaps of action and subtle humour. Surprisingly, Jack Black was very convincing in a more serious role than he usually plays, while Adrien Brody and Naomi Watts' roles were more bland and not memorable. Special effects were excellent, with some beautiful scenery shots. The ending wasn't as sad as I thought it would be, and is kinda abrupt.
It's 3 hours so you'll get your money's worth. 8.5/10

Yes I enjoyed the movie aswell, its pretty cool. You pretty much gave a quick spill of the movie which I totally agree on. I give KING KONG two thumbs up 
But the only thing I disagree on was Jack Black's performance...for some reason I wasn't really buying his acting in this movie. Im used to him being all quirky and funny oppose to being semi funny/very serious

I had to "force" myself to enjoy it... by this I mean that yea it was good entertainment... but I had some ignore some key turnoffs
-The movie at the end comes like a copycat Titatic... but not up to par im afraid, if LEo and kate weren't convincing, Adrian was way off (anyone badmouths Watts and dies
).
-While the action sequences were awesome, the attention to detail is way off
-The musical score is lackluster, nothings stands out.

-the stampede scene was bad because the stretch was so narrow, there's no logical way anyone out runned or survived thru that.
-The insect scene... also was good... if you let go of the fact that they are doomed and you only start wondering when will they come to rescue them.
-The Black speech at the end came off badly... and his character thru the movie just doesnt justify his last words.
