I'm a bit worried it may get the MK9 or Tekken treatment by SF fanboys where they just blindly bash it. Hell, that's the only reason these games are seen as "not as good" in the first place.
Usually I ask people if they are going to play KOF and get the dumb "I'm not Mexican!" response.

this is why i get angry when people say things like "sf4 revitalized the fighting genre" and then all people do is cling to street fighter. it's just a ridiculous and egotistical statement on behalf of capcom. aside from that, the way they say it makes it sound as if there was a dead period in fighting game development for the entire 10 years, just because capcom wasn't around. capcom's like that big boss guy that shows up at the last minute and takes all the credit for what a bunch of subserviant people worked so hard at accomplishing. some people went on to say things like "without sf4 there would be no more scene" which is pretty funny, and a bit of a self-correction on their part. apparently, they really mean to only talk about the scene, not the development of fighting games. in japan, the scene wasn't so dead at all, so this is just another egotistical sentiment: the previous remark describes america's status in fighting games. what's also nice to know is that a very large majority of the fighting games are produced in japan.
even with the supposed revitalized scene, there are people who still just blow off any other franchise not capcom--mortal kombat, soul calibur, tekken, KOF, etc. and these were the branches of games that didn't quit just because capcom threw in the towel temporarily, but then people act as if capcom's some kind of hero to the fighting game genre. true, people show more interest (in america) in fighting games now thanks to sf4, but how much of a net-gain is it, really? a lot of the fanboys still attach themselves to capcom with stubborn levels that make you wonder about the possibility of autism in them (see: christian weston chandler, bless his late father).
but that's the thing, the comments about revitalizing anything is all central to america, and the irony is, the only american-produced game on the market that's relevant is mortal kombat. and yet, a lot of the (online) scene actually spits on mortal kombat (9), despite how much work actually went into that title.
the scene didn't particularly fade in japan like it did in america, and inbetween then and now, we had several doujin games and not to mention a succession of kof games and a couple tekken and soul calibur games. but somehow, capcom is the hero.
but the correction to this statement is: capcom is a hero. in america. to themselves.
