Movie thread

Post by International Bastard » Wed Jun 23, 2010 02:58

Anybody have suggestions/opinions/anything else to share? Been going on a little movie binge and i could use inspiration.
Just now rewatched "Once were warriors" Powerful movie about a maori family in modern day New Zealand, going to watch the sequal "What becomes of the broken hearted" tommorow. Before that "No country for old men" and "Rocknrolla" (London underworld, Guy Ritchie flick) both recommended. The latter made me want to make an ON London crime outfit :D

The Boys From Brazil. It was so screwed up seeing Atticus Finch do some Nazzi stuff.

Well from the recent movies I have watched I would recommend the following:

Unthinkable (Samuel L Jackson)
Green Zone (Matt Damon)
Hot Tub Time Machine (if it's going to be one bad comedy for the year, it might as well be this one)

The Fall gets IB's seal of approval:
In a hospital on the outskirts of 1920s Los Angeles, an injured stuntman begins to tell a fellow patient, a little girl with a broken arm, a fantastical story about 5 mythical heroes. Thanks to his fractured state of mind and her vivid imagination, the line between fiction and reality starts to blur as the tale advances.
Both a gripping and visually impressive movie. I think a lot of you guys will like it since many of you appreciate creativity and this movie has plenty.

Heard about this one, sounds like it'll be enjoyable. *puts on list*

Green Zone oh dear, i might get all worked up over it on a bad day haha. Unthinkable sounds a little unoriginal but it has Samuel L. Time machines and fun are right up my alley. *updates list*

Hong Kong movies

Ip Man (first one, not the sequel)
Protege
Mr Canton and Lady Rose (aka Miracles)
Vengeance (this is a collaboration of sorts with a French main actor teaming with HK assassins)
