Leader Mary.

After KOing an opponent in the corner, wait for incoming character.

LDM grab.

Only her LDM works as other grabs in the game don't stay out as long as hers.

The Oswald bug is in the Oswald thread. But here it is if you're lazy.

After you KO an opponent, df.A, LDM. If you hit with the df.A right the LDM should be unblockable.

no I'd still say that Oswald is around A level. Considering that even for the LDM to hit off of df.A after a knockdown, he has to be leader. so Oswald being A (+1 leader) is good. He has a lot of good moves, but his pressure game is somewhat basic, and has to rely on his LDM to cover defenses. Hop A/B/C/D, d.Ax2, qcb+P, qcf+A - is his best choice for pressure because qcf+A recovers fast enough and puts him right next to the opponent. Then its up to you.

Yeah Oswald has got 2 b a leader in order to be extra super duper deadly. But Gai in B class?? Hes solid, hard to predict and stronger than 90% of the cast. I think he should be on A... Just bcause he has a high learning curve doesnt mean he's average, right??

I don't really know much about Gai. But yes, a higher learning curve could push a character downwards a tier list if the problems involve certain factors.

- Movesets that require strict timing. If a character has to choose their timing more carefully than their opponents, it is difficult to properly pressure your opponent.

- Somewhat "linear" movesets. Most of the time characters like this have their uses but require special conditions. An example being Shen Woo. He is primarily an offensive character with a shortage of defensive moves such as a dragon punch for anti air and wake up. With his only good anti air moves being risky).

- Strict/limited chain options. Both K' and Kula can pretty much choose whatever they want to do next granted that they hit with st.C. Compared to Eiji who has a 4 hit ground string that pushes the opponent across the screen, and a corner combo that involves his multi kick move. Those are Eiji's only two options, other than using standard super cancels.

- Limited supers. A character with super moves that range from somewhat utterly useless (i.e. Duck Dance), to useful in only "certain" situations (i.e. Duck King's LDM).

Characters with deep learning curves carry a couple of these factors at once.

I think Ramon needs to get at least +1 for Leader. especially if you can set up a QS combo for him. If you can keep a character grounded during a QS and have the 2 stocks and 1 skill point necessary.

i.e. Shen/Ramon

(Shen) d.B, d.A, qcfx2+K, QS (Ramon), st.C, dp+K, dp+K, dd+P xx LDM + Followups.

or if you lack the meter

(Duck) j.D, d.A, st.B, f+C QS (Ramon) blah blah.

I tried Ramon yesterday and the conclusion was....

He is fun to play. His combos are easy. He does not have any down b combos.
Far C and Down C are good. C, F+A to down down punch to misc is fun.

However I loathe to confuse fun with effectiveness.

His LDM scales so much in combos it isn't funny.

What he can do, others can do much better.

An expert character to use and learn.

Eiji is more powerful than Kula

Postby Bankotsu » Sat Apr 01, 2006 09:31

I disagree, I have been playing with Eiji and Kula and I have seen very high level matches with these two characters. I have seen that Eiji is more powerful than Kula, why? because Kula may have a lot of advantages than Eiji but talking about priority and speed... the moves of Eiji are superior in priority. you can defeat Kula very easy by rolling her moves and combos, while Eiji you have to stop him but how? with a perfect teleport and DMs and a very good d.D as antiair and cancelable...

well, i definetly agree that eiji is 4th in the game....but he does get owned by rushdown. His only move on wakeup that's useful is probably his ranbu DM (and maybe LDM if he's leader).....he's got great offense though, no doubt about that.....however, about his teleport crossups, you can so easily hit him before he recovers, so if you expect it coming, then yeah, you can interrupt him

but still, with an insane crossup B, great ground pressure and all, he's definetly hard to fight against once he's got momentum going

Iori got dropped down to C?

Benimaru and Adel are equal rofl

Tizoc is D? Bullshit. This one guy at my arcade with hairdo that looks like a cross between a mohawk and a mullet always beats everyone with him.

Well, people always said that the JP tier lists don't make any sense. (other than for the S tiers and maybe Kyo and Eiji). Why's Kim A tier? cos of his LDM combo or something else?

Clark in the hands of an experienced player can be solid A tier material, only because he has HUGE mindfuck capabilities now... well actually, not now, but more like again after he was nerfed in 2k3. I mean come on, they even gave him a command overhead. D:

I agree with most part of that list.
I would take Kim and Maxima a bit lower

the japanese have seemed to take the character's moves and abilities literally and not along with the system and/or the player (i.e. 3rd strike tier lists, tekken 5 tier lists), with the tekken 5 tier list being especially random. This one however seems to make a lot more sense, although kim in A tier still warrants a nerfing

other than the bottom half or so, the top 6 are spot on for me......
