Maxima (XI)

From the latest match vids:
- f+A can once again be used like it was before 2K3 - combos when it's cancelled into.
- He can cancel his Vapour Cannon midway like he could in MI. Wee mindgames.
- Vapour Cannon still wires on counter hit. Doesn't seem to have much priority though - he got kicked out of it by K's hop D.
- jump C appears to crossup quite nicely.

You can 'fake out' his Vapa KANNON by holding the punch button.
Low B is cancellable.
I don't remember much but I heard his MASHIMA REVENJAH's motion is now punch instead of kick.

hmmm, with vapour cannon cancellable, i guess it's pretty obvious that mixups are available, like say stand C,
A, fake vapour cannon, MAKUSHIMA REVENGAH!!!!!!!
or I guess even do crouching B, since it's cancellable now, right???

Sounds like they wanted to makeup for how badly MAxima sucked in 2k3... nice.

Maxima's jump CD is pretty godly. Managed to hit Kim out of his Hien Zan twice with it.
It's a high priority drop kick.
Yes, Maxima Revenger is now done with punch.
+A lost some range, so you have to hit close before comboing into it.

Qcf A never had any range, it was Qcf C the long range one, but it was slower.... I wonder if the Maxima revenger is the 2k3 one (with taunt on the end) or the 2k2 one (no taunt on the end for "lvl 1" super); it was way better without taunt...

It's the 2k3 version, just that he finishes the head pointing thing before you land, so all is well I guess.

LDM aka Take out big gun and shoot laser beam seems pretty good. CPU is using it like a powered up Vapour Cannon as anti air...

didnt see it here but his Qcfx2+D juggles the opponent, you can perform another Qcfx2+b or some QS comboes.

Well, some things I noticed with Maxi:
- now his Vapor Cannon MUST be motioned
+P and not
+P.
- His crouching A is repeatable now, but unless you were very close to opponent, cr. A twice into
+A will miss.
- Crouching B is cancelable like in 99.
- Bunker Buster recovers faster, and does pretty good damage even if it doesn't score full hits unlike 2k3.
- Jump E has ridiculous priority.
-
+C no longer combos from light attacks.
-
+Ax3 does far less damage now, and the 1st motion's range is shorter.
- You can still avoid his LDM by standing right next to Maxi when it launches.
- Blitz Cannon (dp+K) seems to be faster.

WTF! Erm, i don't think so. Coz sC, f+A, (which is due to the motion)+P works perfectly.

+A will miss.
IOW, no diff to 2k2
- Crouching B is cancelable like in 99.
Was it not in 2k3? I cant recall... Definitely was in 2k2

I've noticed its a shit to avoid too. You try to roll away from it, and you end up rolling towards it.
- Jump E has ridiculous priority.
-
+C no longer combos from light attacks.
Bummer that. crAx2, +C, +A was my 2k2 staple.
-
+Ax3 does far less damage now, and the 1st motion's range is shorter.

Goes higher than 2k2 too, which can be good and bad (makes hops hard to catch)
Question: if you whiff
+A, does the whole thing come out like 2k2, or does he not complete the motion? Or am i holding A accidentally?
Oh, and
+K, f+K attack is different than 2k2. You no longer hit the opponent on the ground with the f+K, but hit them while they fly through the air. The actual timing remains the same but. This means opponent CANT roll out of it.

Well, from my experience, motioning
+P does nothing unless you used it in combos. You gotta motion
+P to get the Vapor Cannon out on its own.
About the crouch A twice into
+A, well the range is way shorter than 2k2. You definitely can't combo it from a jumping C, even on cross-up the way you could in 2k2. Best to play it safe and crouch A once.
Yeah, Bunker Buster is a pain to avoid. I've very rarely been hit by this after '99, but in XI, I seem to get hit like half the time the CPU Maxi launches this.

huh? I can land 3 down light punches after I do a Jump C (overlap)..
not sure if ur idea of cross-up is the same as overlap, but yah, I can land 3 down As after I hit the opponent from the back.

i thought that jumping and hitting opponent from behind was a cross-up (or cross-over is the term i use).
What's the diff between crossup and overlap?

nothing. they're totally the same thing.....
jump C is so good. as empyrian put it, anti-air, anti-ground and crossup. evil in the right hands
also his
B/D followup is missable again. Didnt they take it out in 2k3?
