    Good show!

The future of fighting games, well they will get dumber thats for sure, KOF 13 is already dumbed down from 2k2um, it hasnt got anywhere near as bad as SF though, Capcom games will definitely get worse.

Evo is pretty much in bed with Capcom, they did the same with TvC, a game that would have died on its arse much quicker if it wasnt at Evo, it pretty much died right after Evo, I wouldnt be surprised if the same thing happens with SFxT.

I dont think the flood of fighting games helps much either, with a new darkstalkers game on the way, which will probably get a spot at Evo2013 with no questions asked, along with P4U, Tag2,VF5,DOA,TxSF, things are going to get over crowded.

As for arcades, that shit is over man, long over, Im glad I grew up in a time to fully experience it, but those days aint coming back, no chance.

I’m not sure a consoles cafe/bar can take off like arcades did, I think its a very small base niche thing to make a business out of, like running a comic book shop, you’d probably run it for 8months to a year before you would have to close it.

I do worry that things become more dependent with online, not just fighting games, but games in general. Nothing better than playing games with people in the same room as you, Im sure most of you remember the N64/Psone days, either playing Goldeneye, Pro Evo etc.

I dont think modern gamers the COD gen have that same experience, everything is online on headset, so the game companies go more and more into that direction.

BLOODY HELL!!! That continuation system is one bloody hell of a time, no wait… energy consuming!!!

Arcade is pretty much hanging by a thread right now, which is sad. Yeah, console gaming bar is the new black! I need to visit that in Las Vegas on my next trip…

    juicebox*cough*

Making fighting games easier, this is where I kinda see it both ways and yet clashes with each other and Gunny nailed it! Heck back when I was fairly introduced to fighting games I played the SNES port of SFII, I did not know how to pull out a hadouken, let alone a DP, the ones who knew never taught me. When I finally learned whow to surf the net, I started searching for the commands to bust out those move. When I saw them for the first time in my life I was like, “how the bloody hell do they expect me to move my fingers like that???” And mind you, I was more intrested in SNK’s KOF than Capcom’s SF. But I was still persistant to own and play my very own fighting game, years in and out. It’s not until I finally got the chance to purchase my very own (first and so far, only) KOF game for the Wii that I understand how to do the basics. I still feel as a noob in KOF (I’m still not able to connect more than a 2 hit combo, not chains, let alone ending them with a DM on KOF98), But I still want to learn the adv skill-level, I’m just barely getting the hang of the jumping machenics.

Ay, Dios mio, TheAnswer has said it about STxT! I’ll even back up his claims with webmaster of FightersGen, saying that capcom altered the moves of some characters very badly…

Capcom vs. SNK 2 Maximun Offence??? O my Lord, I’m still trying to get a hard copy of that game for the GCN. Yes, the many choices for the gameplay machenics were great, for noobs and vets alike… Even though I got my arse handed to me.

    Nice show as always Gunny!

Excellent show guys ! However this subject about the future of fighting games is making me depressed the more I think about it and the more I get to see how everything i used to like about fg’s is going to the dump aside from very few exceptions.
Kof and Virtua Fighter are some of those exceptions, it seems as if they refuse to adopt the trend Capcom took ever since MvC3 of dumbing down the difficulty and the complexity of their games. As someone who still plays a lot of Darkstalkers Chronicles and SF3rd strike; its horrible to see how Capcom has changed their priorities. The sad part is that it seems those kind of games, with beautiful visuals, amazing soundtracks and of course complex but enticing mechanics will be gone in the future…
And yes I know KofXIII has all those characteristics I mentioned above, but the thing is that, unfortunately, Capcom has taken so much control of the genre in terms of popularity and appeal, that no matter how much better another game out there is (i.e.Kof) most of the people prefer to go for the fanservice rather than the quality, and it seems they will drag every other company into doing the same.
I really hope SNK has success with KofXIII and are able to make more games like it, XIII is the only game on the current generation that reminds me why I love fighting games so much. Until then I look forward to only re-releases in the future: VF5 Final showdown and GG Accent Core.

I could go on, but i’ll stop here. Keep supporting the KoF scene !
    *Sorry for the weird english*
