Orochinagi certainly has a lot of faith in them.  I can reveal that Atlus have been in touch before the announcement at E3 but it should be obvious that E3 takes precedence.  Don’t think for one second that SRK were their first point of contact.   There is a lot going on that I can’t reveal yet (or ever).  Stay faithful – orochinagi will be working to make this release the best ever.  Post your questions here for Atlus:  I will select three, possibly five, to be answered.

P.S:  My days of fanboyism are over.  After the burn of XII (even though I still think it’s a great yet unfinished game), I’m not pre-ordering.  Let’s get some more information first.  ON isn’t selling out for anyone, even if we get offered a XIII cabinet.

Q: When will the game be released in Japan/Europe?
Q: What changes with the arcade version?

  • Patricio Erazo Irribarra (Seyren)June 8, 2011 at 8:25 pm

hi first i’d like to thank you for your dedication. I have a few questions that I’d like you can respond:

1.- what is the details of the online game?
2.- the console version will bring more characters and stages than the arcade version?
3.- will it have DLC like customs, stages, etc?
4.- does the game will have other languages than english?

Thank you very much and sorry if i made a lot of question XD

Will any balance changes be made to existing characters?
Will ‘clan mode’ be making a return?
Possibly details on how the netaplay has been improved too.

  • KblacknoahJune 8, 2011 at 10:12 pm

    Will the game have:

    – good online out of the box?(no excuses or BS like NRS did with MK )
    – spectator mode in lobbies and tournament mode?

  • KblacknoahJune 8, 2011 at 10:23 pm

If it’s something related to the final product or something bizarre with KOF XIII you should cough it up.For me it’s a bit strange that they announced this only for US…

  • Shiranui_ninjaJune 8, 2011 at 10:23 pm

The game is awesome. And I have faith in Atlus because I think they takes care of what they publish and because they know, or will know, they are going to publish a game with a very hardcore fanbase…

So KOF XIII console version needs:

-A good online. People will not forgive another netcode like KOF XII’s one. Plain and simply.

-Good game modes for offline playing (and a good AI)

-Color edit. (Customize your chars becomes a need when you play online)

-Extra content and DLC. (I really don’t care about this. But all fighting games have it now and people will be disapointed if there is no something extra)

-Re-balance changes (This only means K’ and Raiden nerfed down. Well, Mai a bit buffed could be cool too :D)

  • Shiranui_ninjaJune 8, 2011 at 10:35 pm

Side Note. Someone was asking if the game has more languages than english. Well, I know 100% sure the game is being translated into spanish.

I hope this means Europe announce will come, don’t know when, but it will come.

Atlus has given me great games like Shin Megami Tensei and Matrimelee, so I too have much faith in them.
    1. You seem very confident that the netcode for XIII will be the best yet. Are you using an already-made netcode (ala GGPO) or are you using your own netcode?
    2. Can we expect extra characters or other bonuses for the console release? On a side note, will there be Japanese and English voices?
    3. The decision was to release XIII for consoles at arcade version 1.1 (I believe). Surely we can expect character balances and such in future updates?

Thanks, keep up the good work, guys! :D

I guess I would like to ask a few questions as well but some of the good ones have been asked already so I’ll sorry if I’m repeating here.

    1) Will changes be made to the game? I know Atlus probably can’t be very specific but maybe they could just say there will be character rebalancing, or maybe a speed change. If they can go into detail great, if they can’t then some general info would be fantastic.

    2) When will this game be released for Europe? It’s great having a release date announced for Japan/American but over in Europe we would like some details as well.

    3) What will the online be like? I don’t want to hear, it will be great or fantastic or the best yet. The best yet could be only slightly better than 12 and would still be poor and many games state they have fantastic online play but are terrible when they’re released. A few details in this area a really needed to generate more interest and more sales.

I would like more than that but I realise there’s a limit to what can be answered so I’ll leave it there.

I’ve only played KOF casually when I was a teen at arcades, versions such as KOF 95 and KOF 98. I think KOF XIII would be a nice reboot for me and many other potential KOF players.

The question on my mind is how is Atlus going to help promote KOF XIII along with help develop the KOF Community and bring players together?

We all know that a strong community is needed to help KOF XIII succeed but it is not just the players who need to work hard into supporting the game but also the developers and publishers need to push for it as well.

KOF XIII needs more media attention, you won’t be able to reach potential KOF Players if they aren’t even aware the game is coming out!

I browse various gaming sites all the time and I rarely even hear about the KOF XIII port. SNKP or Atlus needs to continually update their fan base to help strengthen the awareness. Take a few pages out of Capcom’s book, they seem to be really successful at it. Look at Third Strike and how much attention the game is getting just because they are very well connected to the community.

    My suggestions would be:
    1. Excellent Netcode equivalent to GGPO or better. Honestly this is almost a standard now.

    2. Constant balance updates via patch or DLC. This will keep players coming back, Blazblue does this extremely well.

    3. Enhanced Search Option and Leader Boards. I want to search for the best players online and I want possibly add them up or challenge them.

    4. Replay Modes and uploads. That’s right I want to watch some of the best matches without having to resort to Youtube or any other sites.

    5. Good Lobby System and spectator mode. This is pretty much a standard now.

There are tons of more questions and suggestions but I felt these were the most important so far.

I’ve pre-ordered my copy on Amazon already and is hoping for the best.

    1) Do you use GGPO (it represents also quality) ?
    2) Do you allow control customization similar as in KOF XI Playstation 2 ?
    3) Do you allow fighting options as known from KOF98 and Street Fighter (for example number of rounds, time limit, handicap, extra power unlimited etc.)?
    4) Do you implement as bonus the high-res background-stages of KOF XII and most music-tracks of older KOFs as well an MP3 option ?
    5) Do you allow the allow the classic “simple” inputs like in KOF98 (to KOF 2000) or Garou: Mark of the Wolves?

[The controls since KOF2002 were too sensitive and showed no tolerance to interpolated inputs (especially half circle moves).
This is significant in direct comparison for example on XBOX 360: Garou, KOf 98 UM compared to KOF XII. The controls used for comparison were Madcatz Fightstick Tournament Edition and regular Microsoft Gamepad.

Yeah I didnt want to sound like a party pooper before but after my last experience with KOF12 my fanboyism is dead too, I spent between 200-300pound just to play KOF12, all the stuff that happened after, left me with a scar bigger than the one on Sagats Chest.

If Atlus and SNK want my money then they will have to prove that they deserve it.

I feel some of you are asking question that they cant really do nothing about.

I really dont care about any extra’s SNK can release the same game as the arcade for all I care. If the netcode is no good then it wont matter what else you throw in.

Having Billy Kane in there isnt going to add sales, having console characters wont matter, remember XI? That had a load of console characters, did anyone ever see or use them? nope.

I hope SNK resources have gone into good netcode and nothing else tbh, because this is it, KOF and SNK’s last chace.

I suggest for Atlus that you find a way to make KOF13 appeal to the younger gen of kids, when I show my friends younger brothers (around 19/20yr olds) KOF, they think its a joke, these same kids play SF4 and Blazblue.

KOF is no longer hip and cool so your marketing team needs to find a way to appeal to people like this, when I was 17 I was playing KOF, I dont know any kids playing KOF right now, its all Modern WarFare and SF4.

SNK/KOF market is shrinking because their players have grown up and left, its good you came to various KOF communities to ask for advice, but you need to appeal further than just people here.

I think Ignition did a great job in promoting KOF12, at e3 2009, KOF12 was all over websites and being hyped up “best fighting game of e3″ even, right now you’re already behind in that reguard, I havent seen one video of KOF 13 from e3 and I’ve only seen the news covered that its even there on sites like this, where obviously KOF fans would come.

Last time KOF12 was on sites like Gametrailers, you certainly need to do this in the future.

You need to Organize a KOF13 only tourney just like Ignition did too.

    Did I mention netcode? :D

We have heard all the talk before, I dont want the game to come out and have rubbish netcode and then you say a patch is coming a month later, none of that rubbish thanks.

  • shelcoofJune 10, 2011 at 6:06 pm

    Ouch! Thats not good :(

  • PaladinJune 10, 2011 at 7:15 pm

Damn, I really hope they realise just how big of a deal netplay is for a console release. Iffy netcode might work in Japan, with fast connections and low distances between players, but elsewhere it will do huge damage to the game’s popularity.

  • shelcoofJune 10, 2011 at 9:58 pm

I’m trying to post a link to a thread on Atlus’s site to voice our opinions regarding KOF XIII’s netcode but it’s not showing up

Just head to atlus and check out the thread there, voice your opinion!

  • Shiranui_ninjaJune 11, 2011 at 2:34 am

In response to worries about basing XIII’s online into XII’s online, manager of Atlus said in DreamCancel forums:

“Please think of the improvements in KOFXII’s netcode post-release as movement in the right direction and a positive FOUNDATION for things to come.

The online functionality in KOFXIII is still VERY early in development and is, more importantly, a HUGE priority.”

I’m more calm now. They really realized what we feel and what we want. So let them do their work and see that improvement. I think Atlus is a good company.

  • DarkDreamTCKJune 11, 2011 at 3:35 pm

-Will DLC be available for the game at some point in terms of Characters/Stages?
-Will patches be released for balance?
-Is this going to be a port of 1.01 on Launch?
-Are you using GGPO or something similar to it for the netcode, and if not, can you (Is it possible for you to be able to)?

  • TripleMMMJune 11, 2011 at 11:32 pm

Good Lord, most of the stuff I wanted to ask already got asked… Atleast one, but it’s irrelavent at this point in time. >_<

  • oroqiJune 12, 2011 at 10:32 am

    My question are?

1-How old is your contract with KOF, or is temporary?

2-How fare longer will be for the next KOF?

  • LouisJune 12, 2011 at 6:53 pm

    #1 obvious: NetCode

#2 Co-op: I think games like the new MK stand out because of co-op play.
KOF is a 6 fighter per match game, so make it a 6 player game. make it so you can assign any controller to any of the 6 characters. This will bring in more casual players bacause the hardcore fans can introduce the game to more casual fans and play together online and offline.

    Co-op = fun = community = sales

  • TheLioydJuly 20, 2011 at 10:50 pm

Not so much a question as a request, but eh:

    Color edit mode prettypl0x?
